These electric buses will appear in Minsk already in December 2016.
The electric buses will be like electric vehicles. They are powered by clean energy sources: a battery or a supercapacitor. The energy will be enough to cover about 12 kilometers.

Scientists have uncovered the mystery of the origin of bison, which is one of the national symbols of Belarus. With the help of DNA analysis of the ancient remains they revealed that these animals have existed for around 120,000 years.
Such conclusions were voiced by Australian researchers.
They studied the genome of 64 bison. They found that these mammals appeared by crossing between the already extinct steppe bison and the ancestors of modern cattle.
Previously, it was believed that the bison appeard about 12,000 years ago.
Minsk rides complete 2016 warm season

Stanisław Moniuszko and Dunin-Martsinkyevich monument unveiled in Minsk
The historical center of Minsk received a new sculpture on September 3. On Svabody Square, near Minsk Town Hall, a monument was installed to the composer Stanislaw Moniuszko and Belarusian playwright Vincent Dunin-Martsinkyevich.
In the nineteenth century, this tandem gave birth to the first Belarusian opera.

A small group of mountain climbers together with the instructor, Valery Ermolovich, spent in the mountains about two weeks. A specially equipped playground is being created in Minsk for open-air sports enthusiasts. A unique extreme sports park is planned to open at the beginning of September on Stoletova Street.
Experts promise that in terms of some indicators it will be the best in the CIS since such project was created in close assistance between sportsmen and city guides.

Belarusians now have to pay for Tax Free return. The commission was introduced on 27 July. The cashing of a check worth over 50 euros will cost 3 euros. You will also have to pay this amount when it comes to the registration of earlier checks, for which payment will be made after July 27.

Swimming forbidden at several beaches near Minsk

Belavia not to cancel flights to Nice
The Belarusian airline Belavia has no plans to cancel flights to Nice, where the terrorist attack took place on the night from 14 to 15 July.
"Today we are preparing a flight to Paris and tomorrow to Nice. Airports are open, we are monitoring the situation. If there are any changes, we will inform you," said the press service of the airline.
Now Belavia carries out flights to Nice three times a week: Wednesdays and Saturdays (departure from Minsk at 8.30), as well as Sundays (departure at 12.10).

Unique 12th-century frescoes being restored at Holy Transfiguration Church in Polotsk
Restorers have discovered the frescoes of the 12th century at the Holy Transfiguration Church in Polotsk.
This is the only monument of the 12th century in Belarus where frescoes preserved almost completely.
In 1886, repairs were carried out at the temple and for some reason the unique mural was covered with an oil painting. And only in the 1990s, the planned and systematic restoration of the frescoes began here.

Dumplings eating championship held in Minsk
On June 26, Minsk hosted the first championship on dumplings eating. Especially for the competition the organizers cooked more than 500 potato balls with meat. They were baked according to ancient Belarusian recipes in a village oven.
To do this, 250 kilos of potatoes, 50kg of meat and 40kg onions were needed. Taking part in the championship were 13 gourmets.
