The Belarusian tennis player Victoria Azarenka has climed to 16th place in the newly published WTA ranking. The athlete has risen by 6 points at once, thanks to her victory at Brisbane International.

The Belarusian tennis player Victoria Azarenka for the second time in her career won the tournament Brisbane International.
January 9 in the final, Azarenka met German Angelique Kerber (10) and won in straight sets 6:3, 6:1. The match lasted 1 hour and 14 minutes.
After the victory in the final, Azarenka earned $193,000 and 479 ranking points. This will allow her to return to the top 20 of the WTA ranking.
Azarenka into WTA tournament's semi for first time since February 2015
Victoria Azarenka for the first time since February 2015 will play in the semifinals of a WTA tournament. She secured a semifinal place at Brisbane International after a win over Italian Roberta Vinci (6:1, 6:2) in the quarterfinal.
At the preliminary stage of the tournament the Belarusian tennis player competed with rivals with rankings from 101 to 200 but 15th ranked Roberta Vinci was waiting for her in the quarterfinals.

In the latest ranking of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA), Belarusian Victoria Azarenka occupies 23rd place.
Last week, the best Belarusian tennis player did not participate in tournaments and now has 2,216 points. Olga Govortsova, who has 866 points, fell from 63rd to 65th position in the world ranking. Another Belarusian Alexandra Sasnovich has 398 points and 136th place. This week Sasnovich plays at a tournament in Seoul after successfully qualifying for the main draw.

Victoria Azarenka (WTA No21) has qualified for the second round of the tennis tournament in Cincinnati (USA) with a prize pool of $2,400,490.
On August 18, in the 1/32 final, the Belarusian defeated USA's Lauren Davis (85) with a score of 6:1, 6:2.
Azarenka's next opponent will be fifth-ranked Caroline Wozniacki from Denmark. Their head-to-head score is 6:4 in favor of the Belarusian.

Belarusian Victoria Azarenka failed to beat Italian Sara Errani and progress to the quarterfinals of the WTA tennis tournament in Toronto, Canada (the prize fund $2.5 million).
Azarenka (21) lost to Errani (17) in straight sets 5:7, 3:6. The meeting lasted 1 hour 48 minutes. Before that Victoria Azarenka beat Ukrainian Elina Svitolina (15) 6:1, 6:4 and the world's number 4 Czech Petra Kvitova 6:2, 6:3.

On August 11 Azarenka dominated in the match against Elina Svitolina (15) of Ukraine and beat her, 6:1, 6:4.
Azarenka's next opponent will be third-seeded Petra Kvitova (4) of the Czech Republic, who did not play in the first round.
International professional tennis tournament Amkodor Cup 2015 underway in Minsk
Amkodor Cup is tennis for everybody. That is the motto of the Minsk international professional tennis tournament. The high level of competition, as well as a decent prize fund allowed inviting participants from all over the world.
Taking part in the Amkodor Cup is very broad: Israel, Uzbekistan, Lithuania, France, Germany and even athletes from China.
Six Belarusians are taking part too. Among them are leaders Egor Gerasimov and Dmitry Zhirmont, who are taking part in the Davis Cup.
Mirnyi, Lopez into Citi Open round 2
Belarusian Max Mirnyi and Spain's Feliciano Lopez advanced to the second round of the ATP doubles tennis tournament Citi Open in Washington (the prize fund is $1.75 million).
In the first round, the Belarusian-Spanish tandem in two sets outplayed the hosts of the court, Americans S. Johnson / S. Querrey, 6:4, 7:6 (9). The latter received wild card. Mirnyi and Lopez will face Croat-Brazilian duo Ivan Dodig / Marcelo Melo, seeded second.
Belarus' Vladimir Ignatik wins international tennis tournament in Slovakia
Belarusian Vladimir Ignatik (pictured) beat Slovakian tennis player Philip Gorski, 6:3, 7:5, in the final of an international tennis tournament in the Slovak town of Piešťany.
The news agency BelTA informs that before the decisive match, the Belarusian was considered a favorite and lived up to that status by winning in two games.
On the way to the final, Vladimir Ignatik beat Czech Václav Šafránek, 6:3, 6:3.
Belarus defeat Turkey in second round of Davis Cup Europe/Africa Zone Group II
Belarusian tennis players defeated the visiting Turkish team and reached the third round of Group II Euro-African zone of the Davis Cup.
To determine the winner, the sides had to play all five matches.
On the first day, on July 17, the rivals exchanged victories.
On the second day, on July 18, there was held a doubles match. Belarusian Max Mirnyi (38th in the doubles ranking) and Sergei Betov (74) were much stronger than Baris Erguden (679) and Anil Yuksel (668), 6:2, 6:1, 6:4.
Max Mirnyi to play for Belarus against Turkey in Davis Cup
A Davis Cup draw was held in Istanbul to decide on the order of matches between Belarus and Turkey in Group II of the Euro-African zone.
On the first day of the competition on July 17, there will be held two singles matches. Egor Gerasimov (world No 327) plays with Marcel Ilhan (78) followed by the Dmitry Zhirmont (241) v Cem İlkel (438) match.
Azarenka back into WTA top 20
Belarusian tennis player Victoria Azarenka at the end of Wimbledon moved up 5 notches in the updated WTA ranking and entered the top twenty.
At Wimbledon, Victoria Azarenka reached the quarterfinals, where in three sets lost to the future winner of the tournament, top tennis player of the world American Serena Williams.
As a result, Azarenka has risen from 24th to 19th place.

This is Azarenka's seventeenth defeat by Williams Jr. in WTA tournaments, tenth in the Grand Slam series and third in 2015 (Madrid, Roland Garros and Wimbledon).
