Belarus wins opener at CEV Volleyball European Championship
Belarus beat Croatia at CEV Volleyball European Championship The women's team of Belarus started the CEV Volleyball European Championship with a victory over Croatia 3:0 (25:19, 25:18, 26:24). The competition is underway in Belgium and the Netherlands. This was the third face-to-face meeting between Croatia and Belarus at European championships. Earlier Croatia twice beat Belarus 3-0, in 1993 and 2013. In the other match of group C acting European champions Russia confidently beat Bulgaria 3:0 (25:6, 25:14, 27:25). Russia and Belarus are on three points each, while Bulgaria and Croatia are on zero points.

Walkers from Belarus and Ukraine did this crazy trick! A rope was hung between two Minsk towers. The rope is less than three centimeters. Belarus' Azarenka 23rd in WTA ranking, Govortsova down two notches In the latest ranking of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA), Belarusian Victoria Azarenka occupies 23rd place. Last week, the best Belarusian tennis player did not participate in tournaments and now has 2,216 points. Olga Govortsova, who has 866 points, fell from 63rd to 65th position in the world ranking. The strongman Kirill Shimko managed to hold two Yak-52 aircraft that were moving opposite directions in afterburner mode. CTV channel takes part in Minsk Half Marathon The center of Minsk on September 13 was given entirely to sports fans. Minsk hosted today the largest half-marathon in its history. Everyone could choose a distance to their liking but the main track - 21.1 km long - ran through the main avenue of Minsk. More than 16,000 runners and professional athletes started near the Sports Palace. Among them were representatives of the CTV channel.

Belarus prevail over Luxemburg in Euro 2016 qualifier On September 8, Belarus won 2-0 against underdogs of Euro 2016 qualifying group C Luxembourg at Borisov Arena. This is the first home victory of Belarus in official matches since 2012. Last time, they won against Georgia in 2014 World Cup qualifiers on 16 October 2012. Since then, the Belarusians have already held the 6th official home match. The previous four ended in defeats and one was drawn. Belarus U21 beat Slovakia U21 in 2017 UEFA Euro qualifier In the opening match of the qualifying tournament for the 2017 European U21 Championship, the Belarusian national football team won at home against Slovakia 1-0. The only goal came in the 39th minute thanks to Dinamo Minsk midfielder Yaroslav Yarotsky's effort. Belarus play in qualifying group 8 together with Slovakia, the Netherlands, Cyprus and Turkey. On October 9, Belarus host Turkey and then travel to Cyprus for the October 13 tie.

HC Meshkov Brest go down to Zagreb in SEHA League The Brest handball club named after Meshkov in the third round of SEHA League lost to Croatian Zagreb at home. By the end of the first half the score was 12-12, with the Croatian side looking better throughout the game. In the second half Meshkov Brest were again behind.  Coach Sergei Bebeshko's side made a number of unforced errors, which did not allow them to put up a fight against Zagreb. As a result, the BGK lost 21:24.

HC Dinamo Minsk's first victory in 2015/16 KHL season comes against Jokerit HC Dinamo Minsk have finally won the first game of the new KHL season. This happened against traditionally inconvenient rivals - Finnish Jokerit. In the last playoffs, it was the Finnish club that knocked Dinamo out of the season. World champion in women's 800m Marina Arzamasova hailed upon return to Belarus Belarusian national athletics team have triumphantly returned home. On Sunday, fans met at the airport bronze medalist of the IAAF World Championships 2015 in Beijing Alina Talai. The Belarusian set a new national record in the women's 100 meters hurdles. On August 31 it was the turn to meet Marina Arzamasova. In Beijing, our runner produced an incredible victory in the women's 800m. With two awards, "gold" and "bronze", the Belarusian team took 14th place in the unofficial medal standings.

HC Meshkov Brest begins SEHA League season with home win The Brest handball club named after Meshkov (Meshkov Brest) began the season in the SEHA League with a home victory over the debutants of the tournament. BGK hosted at the Brest Palace of Sports Victoria the second-ranked team of the Serbian championship - Spartak from Subotica. The Belarusians were the better side all over the match and eventually won 40:28. Three points for BGK at the start of the season is a good achievement. Despite winning coach of the Brest handball club Sergei Bebeshko was not entirely pleased with his players.

Belarusian runner Alina Talay wins 2015 world championships bronze On Friday, she took part in the women's 100m hurdles event. Alina Talay has won world championship bronze in China.  In the women's 100m hurdles she clocked 12.66s (national record) and came in third. Daniel Williams of Jamaica was first (12.57s) and German Cindy Roleder. This is Belarus' first medal at the world championship. Alina is 26 years old. She won the bronze medal of the worlds in 2011 and silver at the 2012 European championships.

In the decisive second leg of the qualification round Minskers lost to Austrian Salzburg 0-2 but thanks to 2-0 win against the Austrians a week ago in Brest they took the game into penalty shootout and won. The hosts did not stop attacks and if it had not been for the goalkeeper Alexander Gutor the Minsk side would have coped with the task of scoring twice and even more. But sometimes the Dinamo keeper rescued the team in almost hopeless situations.

Minsk Half Marathon is a young event. For the first time, the competition was held on City Day in 2013.

Ruslan Salei, Belarus' ice hockey player who died in plane crash
Ruslan Salei memorial ice hockey touriament kicks off in Minsk Today in Minsk, there will start the annual Ice Hockey Cup of Belarus, which was renamed in 2013 Ruslan Salei Cup. On September 7, 2011 the legendary ice hockey player Ruslan Salei of Belarus, was killed along with the team "Lokomotiv" in a plane crash. The plane was taking off from the Yaroslavl airport. Due to numerous requests of fans, now this annual event is a tribute to the ice hockey player.
