Women's volleyball team of Belarus advance to 2015 Women's European Volleyball Championship playoffs
The women's volleyball team of Belarus have progressed to the playoffs of the European Championship. On September 28 Piotr Khilko's charges in a bitter battle beat Bulgaria 3:2. This allowed them to take second place in Group C.

Belarus men's table tennis team have won bronze of the European Championships in Yekaterinburg, Russia.
Our athletes could win a more valuable award but in the semifinals Belarus without its leaders Vladimir Samsonov and Evgeny Shchetinin lost to Austria 1:3.

Belarus beat Croatia at CEV Volleyball European Championship
The women's team of Belarus started the CEV Volleyball European Championship with a victory over Croatia 3:0 (25:19, 25:18, 26:24). The competition is underway in Belgium and the Netherlands.
This was the third face-to-face meeting between Croatia and Belarus at European championships. Earlier Croatia twice beat Belarus 3-0, in 1993 and 2013.
In the other match of group C acting European champions Russia confidently beat Bulgaria 3:0 (25:6, 25:14, 27:25). Russia and Belarus are on three points each, while Bulgaria and Croatia are on zero points.

Belarusian cyclist Elena Omelyusik (team Velocio-SRAM) has become world champion in the team time trial 38.8km at the UCI Road World Championships.
In Richmond, together with her German team colleagues the Belarusian showed the result of 47 minutes and 35.72 seconds. Second and third places went to the Netherlands Boels-Dolmans (6.66 sec. behind) and Rabobank-Liv Woman (56,12 sec. behind).

Dinamo Minsk went down to Viktoria Plzen of the Czech Republic in the UEFA Europa League group stage. Dinamo looked weaker and could not oppose the pressure of Viktoria initially losing 0:2.

Belarusian strongman holds two aircraft moving in opposite directions
Another record of a Belarusian athlete. The strongman Kirill Shimko managed to hold two Yak-52 aircraft that were moving opposite directions in afterburner mode.
This trick was part of the Japanese infotainment television program about travel "Sekai No Hate Made ItteQ!" ("To the end of the world and back"), which is about different countries of the world. The achievement of the Belarusian athlete will become part the Japanese TV's story about Belarus.

The track was officially certified by the International Association of Athletics Federation. The starting point was located near the Sports Palace. In addition to half-marathon an athletics and corporate marathons took place. CTV presenters also ran 5 km.

Victoria Azarenka loses to world No2 Simona Halep in US Open quarterfinal
In the US Open quarterfinal, Belarus' Victoria Azarenka (20) has gone down to world number two Simona Halep of Romania. The meeting was interrupted by rain when the Belarusian was in the lead but Vika did not manage to keep the advantage.
This was the third head-to-head match of Victoria against Simona. Earlier in 2012, Azarenka easily won against the Romanian in straight sets but much has changed since then.
Belarus' Viktor Sosunovsky clinches 2015 World Wrestling Championships silver
Belarusian Greco-Roman wrestler Viktor Sosunovsky won the silver medal of the world wrestling championship 2015 in Las Vegas (USA).
In the final, in the under 80kg class, Viktor Sosunovsky lost to Turkey's Selçuk Çebi with the score 0:2. On the way to the final, the Belarusian defeated four rivals.
Belarus prevail over Luxemburg in Euro 2016 qualifier
On September 8, Belarus won 2-0 against underdogs of Euro 2016 qualifying group C Luxembourg at Borisov Arena.
This is the first home victory of Belarus in official matches since 2012. Last time, they won against Georgia in 2014 World Cup qualifiers on 16 October 2012. Since then, the Belarusians have already held the 6th official home match. The previous four ended in defeats and one was drawn.
The second victory in the qualifying round of Euro 2016 allowed the Belarusian team to gain a foothold on 4th place in group C.
Second win in 2015/16 KHL season for HC Dinamo Minsk
After three defeats in the opening matches of the KHL HC Dinamo Minsk earned a second consecutive victory.
September 8 Lubomir Pokovic's team won against Chelyabinsk's Traktor at Minsk Arena 4:0 (1:0, 2:0, 1:0).
After 5 games, Dinamo, with 7 points, occupies 10th place in the western conference, after getting two wins (in regulation time) and suffering 3 losses (2 in regulation time and 1 in overtime), with a goal difference of 9-10.

Belarus play in qualifying group 8 together with Slovakia, the Netherlands, Cyprus and Turkey. On October 9, Belarus host Turkey and then travel to Cyprus for the October 13 tie.
HC Meshkov Brest go down to Zagreb in SEHA League
The Brest handball club named after Meshkov in the third round of SEHA League lost to Croatian Zagreb at home.
By the end of the first half the score was 12-12, with the Croatian side looking better throughout the game. In the second half Meshkov Brest were again behind.

Belarus lose hope to qualify for UEFA Euro 2016
After losing to Ukraine in Lviv in the September 5 UEFA Euro 2016 qualifier, Belarus lost even a theoretical chance of progressing to EURO finals from third place in Group C. Belarus went down to Ukraine 1-3 at Arena Lviv in front of 32,548 spectators.

HC Dinamo Minsk's first victory in 2015/16 KHL season comes against Jokerit
HC Dinamo Minsk have finally won the first game of the new KHL season. This happened against traditionally inconvenient rivals - Finnish Jokerit. In the last playoffs, it was the Finnish club that knocked Dinamo out of the season.
Moreover, prior to the game, Jokerit had won three matches, while Lubomir Pokovic's Dinamo had a three-game losing streak.

HC Meshkov Brest begins SEHA League season with home win

HC Dinamo Minsk lose to Dinamo Riga in KHL's first home match
In the first home match of the new season of the Kontinental Hockey League Dinamo Minsk lost to Dinamo Riga of Latvia 0-4.
The game was held on August 30 at Minsk Arena, with 14,466 spectators watching in the stands.

Belarusian runner Alina Talay wins 2015 world championships bronze
On Friday, she took part in the women's 100m hurdles event.
Alina Talay has won world championship bronze in China. In the women's 100m hurdles she clocked 12.66s (national record) and came in third. Daniel Williams of Jamaica was first (12.57s) and German Cindy Roleder.
This is Belarus' first medal at the world championship.
Alina is 26 years old. She won the bronze medal of the worlds in 2011 and silver at the 2012 European championships.
Dinamo Minsk to face Villarreal, Plzeň and Rapid Wien in Europa League group stage
FC Dinamo Minsk have learned their 2015/16 Europa League group stage opponents.
Dinamo Minsk will play in Group E together with Villarreal (ESP), Plzeň (CZE) and Rapid Wien (AUT).
The schedule will be known a bit later today.
FC Dinamo Minsk played in the Europa League qualification from round 2 and beat on their way Cherno More of Bulgaria, Zurich of Switzerland and Red Bull Salzburg of Austria.

FC Dinamo Minsk through to 2015/16 Europa League group stage after penalty shootout drama in Salzburg
FC Dinamo Minsk for the second year in a row won a ticket to the group stage of the Europa League.
In the decisive second leg of the qualification round Minskers lost to Austrian Salzburg 0-2 but thanks to 2-0 win against the Austrians a week ago in Brest they took the game into penalty shootout and won.
The hosts did not stop attacks and if it had not been for the goalkeeper Alexander Gutor the Minsk side would have coped with the task of scoring twice and even more. But sometimes the Dinamo keeper rescued the team in almost hopeless situations.

Belarusian basketball players returned home from the U16 European Championship Women Division B. Our girls brought silver medals and, most importantly, a ticket to the elite division!

Former employees of HC Dinamo Minsk accused of abuse of power
The Investigation Committee of the Republic of Belarus has issued an official statement on the case involving former employees of the ice hockey club Dinamo Minsk. According to investigators, Maxim Subbotkin and Vladimir Berezhkov were involved in serious financial abuses while working for Dinamo.
BATE into 2015-2016 Champions League group stage

In the men's singles Belarusian Vladimir Ignatik (202) beat in two sets Chinese tennis player Jason Jung (223), 6:1, 7:5. Ignatik's next opponent will be Russian Evgeny Donskoy (138).
