Azarenka into Miami Open final, set to face Kuznetsova
Victoria Azarenka has advanced into the final of Miami Open. On April 1 in the morning, our best tennis player made its way into the decisive match beating Angelique Kerber, 6:2, 7:5.

HC Meshkov Brest (BGK), in the last match of the regular season of the SEHA League lost at home to FYR Macedonian Vardar.

Belarusian tennis player Victoria Azarenka in a tense match beat a new student of her former coach Sam Sumyk, Spaniard Garbiñe Muguruza, 7:6, 7:6. It is under Sumyk that Vika became top player in the world and won Grand Slam tournaments.
This was the first encounter between the two players. In addition, it was Victoria's first meeting with a player of her previous coach.

Belarus' Golovatsyuk wins gold at World Junior Speed Skating Championships

Maria Mamashuk scoops Wrestling Europeans gold
Maria Mamashuk has won a gold medal at the European Wrestling Championships in Riga. In the women's freestyle section, in the weight category of up to 69 kg, Maria defeated Israeli Ilana Kratysh.
The gold medal of the European Championship is not the first one for the representative of the Gomel wrestling school.
In 2015, the Belarusian won the tournament in the youth category of up to 63 kg and in 2014 she took a silver medal of the European championship in the senior competition.
Melitina Stanyuta wins two medals at Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup in Finland

Why Dinamo Minsk out of KHL playoffs again
This KHL regular season was, perhaps, the most scandalous in the history of the Belarusian ice hockey club Dinamo Minsk. In the summer of 2015, the club lost their sports managers: in July, Maxim Subbotkin, the director general of the team, was detained. Minsk hosts international boxing tournament in memory of USSR hero Viktor Liventsev
The world’s strongest fighters take part in the international boxing tournament in memory of V. I. Liventsev. And the number of participating countries grows each year. Ecuadorian fighters made their debut in 2016. The contest featured more than 200 athletes from 17 countries.

Dinamo Minsk lose chance for KHL playoffs
Slovan Bratislava have won against Dinamo Riga in overtime 3:2 depriving Dinamo Minsk of a chance to play this season in the KHL playoffs.
Two rounds before the finish Dinamo, nicknamed The Bison, are 8 points behind the Slovak team. The Minsk club still have home matches against Spartak Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod's Torpedo, in which Dinamo will be able to collect a maximum of six points.
In eight seasons in the Kontinental Hockey League, Dinamo Minsk entered the playoffs three times.
Belarus' Azarenka qualifies for 2016 Rio Olympics
The Belarusian tennis player Victoria Azarenka has qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, which will be held in August 2016, despite playing only two games for the national tennis team in the current cycle.

Belarus into 2016 Fed Cup World Group playoffs
Despite being without their key star Victoria Azarenka, the Belarusian national tennis team beat Canada 3:2 in a match of the first round of the Fed Cup World Group II.
On the first day of competition in Quebec on February 6 Belarusian Alexandra Sasnovich (99th in the world ranking) won against Canadian Françoise Abanda (343), 6:4, 2:6, 6:3.
However, Canada then restored parity after Aleksandra Wozniak (803) beat Belarusian Olga Govortsova (74) 6:2, 6:2.
HC Brest Meshkov beat Tatran Presov away in SEHA League
The Belarusian handball club Brest Meshkov, in the 13th round of the SEHA League, won against Slovak Tatran Presov.
The meeting was the fourth for the teams this season. Earlier in the Champions League group stage, BGK was stronger on both occasions but in a home game of the SEHA League, the Brest club suddenly gave way to the Slovakians. Coach Sergei Bebeshko's side went to Slovakia for revenge.
Belarus President's ice hockey team defeats Mogilev Region Team 11:3
The Belarus President's team has defeated the team of the of the Mogilev region in the nationwide contest among amateur teams for the prizes of the Presidential Sports Club. The ice hockey battles unfolded on February 6 at Chizhovka Arena.

Belarus to face Canada in Fed Cup
Today in Quebec, there was held a draw for the first-round match of World Group II of the Fed Cup between Belarus and Canada. This will be their first meeting at such a level.
The captain of the Belarusian team Eduard Dubrov first included in the team the leader Victoria Azarenka (14th in the WTA ranking) but then replaced her with 17-year-old Nika Shitkovskaya. Also in the squad are Olga Govortsova (74), Alexandra Sasnovich (99) and Vera Lapko (538).
Belarusian speed skaters preparing for 2016 Winter Youth Olympics
The Belarusian team is preparing to leave for the Youth Winter Games in Lillehammer, Norway. Eight boys and the same number of girls will take part in the competition in seven sports. For the first time, Belarusians took part in the Youth Winter Olympics in Lillehammer in 1994 and won two medals. Back then silver went to biathlete Svetlana Paramygina and skater Igor Zhelezovsky.
Skaters train 5-6 hours a day. They have one day off per week. In summer, they go to their skating rink by bicycles in order to warm up before training on ice.

HC Dinamo Minsk top managers criminal case investigation ends
The Investigation Committee has completed the investigation of the criminal case against former top managers of the Belarusian ice hockey club Dinamo Minsk. Maxim Subbotkin and Vladimir Berezhkov's illegal actions caused a material damage worth more than BYR 3 billion.
The ex-leaders of the club were detained in the summer of 2015. During the investigation the defendants almost completely repaid the illegally obtained assets.
Belarus' Samsonov second at German Open
The Belarusian Vladimir Samsonov has won silver at the German Open table tennis championship.

Belarus supports Infantino in FIFA presidential election
The Belarusian Football Federation (ABFF) will support the candidature of the FIFA general secretary Gianni Infantino in the upcoming FIFA presidential election, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Sergei Safaryan told media.
Mr Safaryan noted that since the beginning of the scandalous events, with the removal of the heads of FIFA and UEFA Belarus supported Michel Platini, but after the Frenchman was forced to withdraw his candidacy, the country decided to vote in favor of Infantino, who has already presented his program.
Vera Lapko of Belarus into Junior Australian Open semifinals

Belarus go down to Poland at Men's European Handball Championships
The handball team of Belarus have lost to Poland in the main round of the Men's European Handball Championship.
In a duel with the hosts of the continental championship, coach Yuri Shevtsov's charges in Krakow fought on equal terms against Poland in the first half but by the break the advantage of the Poles rose to six goals, 19:13. In the second half, Belarusians played without their captain Sergei Rutenko, who was injured at the beginning of the match. Eventually, Belarus lost to Poland 27:32.
Belarus 2nd at Development Cup 2016
Footballers of Team Belarus U18 took second place at the Development Cup 2016, which ended at Minsk's Futbolnyi Manezh Arena.
In the decisive match for the grand prize coach Roman Kirenkin's charges lost to Ukraine 1:3. The only goal for Belarus came after the shot of Pavel Sadovsky, on 20 minutes, when Ukrainians were already 2:0 up. The Indoor hockey team of Belarus have won 3rd place at the 2016 EuroHockey Indoor Championships in Minsk. On January 24, in the fight for the bronze medals, Team Belarus defeated Germany 6:5.

Raubichi hosts Eastern European Cross-Country Skiing Cup
Sports Complex Raubichi hosted the Eastern European Cross-Country Skiing Cup from 15 to 17 of January. This competition is quite serious.
