Belarus wins three medals at European Athletics Championships

Belarus to increase food exports to $6 billion per year

Belarus to partake in 2016 Silk Road rally

The draw of the 130th Wimbledon tennis tournament was made in London on June 24. In the first round of the women's singles the Belarusian Alexandra Sasnovich (world No.98) will meet France's Kristina Mladenovic (33).
This is the second such tournament for the 22-year-old resident of Minsk. A year ago Sasnovich finished Wimbledon after the second round.
Wimbledon 2016: Belarus' Victoria Azarenka withdraws
The Belarusian tennis player Victoria Azarenka has retired from 2016 Wimbledon because of a knee injury, the official Twitter of the tournament reports.
Azarenka withdrew from the games in the first round of Roland Garros against Italian Karin Knapp. Since then, she has not held a single match.
Victoria was preparing for the tournament in Minsk. She worked in the gym as well as conducted training on the grass courts at the Republican center of Olympic Tennis Training in Pieramozcau Avenue, one of the most famous and spectacular avenues in Minsk.
Minsk half marathon 2016 due on September 4
Belarus' Minister of Sport Alexander Shamko has become the first registered member of the Minsk Half Marathon 2016. He plans to run 5km, media report.

2017 IHF Men's Handball Worlds qualification playoff 1st leg results
The handball team of Belarus have made the first step to the Finals of the IHF World Championship 2017.
In the home match at the Minsk Palace of Sports Uruchcha the Belarusians earned a hard victory 26:24. The teams were almost equal during the entire game but coach Yuri Shevtsov's Belarus eventually prevailed. 10 minutes before the final siren Belarusians were left without their captain Sergei Rutenko, but did grab control of the match. Belarus sink Ireland 2:1 in pre-Euro 2016 friendly
After an insulting defeat against Northern Ireland on May 27, the coaching staff of the national team of Belarus worked on their mistakes. An athlete from Belarus Tatiana Gurskaya has won the 100km ultramarathon in Daugavpils (Latvia).
The runner overcame 37 laps spending more than 10 hours. Taking part in the competition were other Belarusian athletes: Vladimir Kandybo, Igor Novitsky, Anatoly Laput and Valery Kruglikov. They ran 50 km, becoming winners in their age groups.
Northern Ireland beat Belarus 3-0 in friendly
In the first of the May friendly matches the national football team of Belarus lost to Northern Ireland.

Belarus to face Canada, Finland, Czech Republic at 2017 IIHF WM
The ice hockey team of Belarus at the IIHF WM 2017 in France and Germany will play in preliminary Group B and is to take on Canada and Finland, the 2016 finalists.

Brest Meshkov wins Belarus handball championship for eighth time
HC Meshkov Brest for the eighth time became the champion of Belarus.
Coach Sergei Bebeshko's Meshkov Brest won at home against their opponents from SKA 27:26 (13:14) in the third match of the final series for gold medals. In the two previous games, the Brest side were also stronger, 32:30 and 33:26.
In the bronze series, Gomel prevailed over Grodno's Kronon 40:24, 34:31 and 31:26.

Belarus scoops seven awards at Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup in Minsk
Belarusians won seven awards at the BSB Bank Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup, which finished in Minsk's Falcon Club.
On the final day of the tournament, medals in individual events were contested. The leader of the Belarusian team Melitina Stanyuta was on the podium three times on May 22. She won one sliver in the hoops event and two bronze medals (balls and clubs). In the ribbon routine, she got 5th place, behind another Belarusian Yekaterina Galkina who ended up fourth. Margarita Mamun of Russia won gold in all the four routines.
Rene Fasel re-elected as IIHF head
Swiss Rene Fasel will head the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) for the sixth time, news agencies report.
There were no other candidates for the post of the IIHF President so Rene Fasel went unopposed. The experienced Swiss will manage the Federation for the next four years.

Belarus begins Rio Olympics countdown
