International Sports Court to consider Belarusian claims autumn, Alexander Gagiev says The International Sports Court (CAS) in Lausanne is about to consider two claims of the Belarusian side, said first deputy minister of sport and tourism Alexander Gagiev. Mr Gagiev noted that the first claim concerns the disqualification from the summer 2016 Olympics of the men's canoe team. In this sport, the team of Belarus has always been a leader and was a medal hopeful ahead of the Rio Games. However, for absolutely no apparent reason the athletes were suspended. Alexander Gagiev stressed that the Belarusian side expects a fair verdict.

The first to play on the courts of Flushing Meadows was Alexandra Sasnovich (107th place in the world ranking). In round 1 of the women's singles, the Belarusian tennis player lost to American Lauren Davis, 2:6, 6:4, 5:7. The match lasted for 2 h 29 min. Other Belarusian female tennis players, Olga Govortsova and Aryna Sabalenka, tried to get into the finals but failed to pass qualification.

Belarus 5th in 2016 Euro Beach Soccer League Belarusians took 5th place in the 2016 Euro Beach Soccer League super final that took place in Sicily. They contested this place with the hosts of the competition Italy. During the game Belarusians were 2:0 in front but allowed opponents to restore parity. Fortunately, the Azzurrini did not turn the game upside down and Belarus went ahead again. By the final whistle they secured a very positive reserve 5:2. Later Spain and Russia appeared on the sand, fighting for third place. Belarus' eastern neighbors eventually celebrated a narrow 8:7 win.

Grodno was greeting silver medalist of the Olympics Ivan Tsikhan. People were greeting the Belarusian hammer thrower like a champion. In this case, silver appeared to be more valuable than gold. Grodno residents are very proud that they are neighbors with the outstanding athletes.  They have a tradition to welcome Ivan after his victories. Tsikhan admits that even being in thousand of kilometers, he felt the support of his compatriots.

21 Belarusian athletes to compete at the Rio Paralympics One more time, Brazil will gather athletes from all over the world. At the beginning of September, the 15th Summer Paralympic Games will be held in Rio. These Paralympics might become the largest in the history of the Games. On August 26, in Minsk, a farewell ceremony was held for the Belarusian Paralympic team. The ceremony took place in the National Olympic Committee. Several dozens of athletes who will represent Belarus at the Paralympics attended the ceremony.
