Belarus into Women's EuroBasket 2015 semis The women's basketball team of Belarus in their trademark dramatic style won a ticket to the semifinals of the European Championship. Coach Anatoly Buyalsky's charges were 39:20 ahead in the middle of the second quarter. But Lithuanians replied with some good attacks, which eventually led to them trailing by only five points. Some 1.5 seconds before the end of the match Ekaterina Snytina made a bad mistake and the ball went out. Fortunately, Lithuanians were not able to score and the scoreboard read 68:66 in favor of Belarus.

National 3x3 Basketball League opens in Minsk The National 3x3 Basketball League opened in the Belarus capital Minsk on June 21. The league games will be held at the skating rink close to the Palace of Sport, which is now completely renovated for streetball purposes. The National Basketball League "3x3 Palova" (English: 3x3 Half) creates an opportunity for players, both professionals and amateurs, to express themselves.The league has 5 categories: elite, general, U-16, U-18 and women.

Belarusian athletes compare European Games to real Olympics Belarusian athletes comparing European Games in Baku with Olympics Azerbaijan had only two years to prepare the capital Baku and the country for the hosting of such an important event: the first European Games. Baku received the new shooting center, aquatics center and water polo arena, two cycling parks and the main arena. Part of the competitions were held, however, far from the capital. The rowing canal, which is about 300km from Baku, in the town of Mingachevir, hosted the canoeing and kayaking events. They brought Belarus several gold medals.

Belarus lose to France at women's Eurobasket 2015, qualify for playoffs Belarusian basketball players suffered another humiliating defeat at the women's European basketball championship. On Sunday Anatoly Buyalsky's team went down to one of the main favorites of the tournament France 58:64 (10:20, 19:20, 14:12, 15:12). The Belarusians started the match badly, falling 16 points behind in the middle of the second quarter (18:34). Nevertheless, Belarus did not give up and resisted until the last minute. At the end of the match, the deficit was reduced to only three points.

Belarusian athletes win eight medals at European Games June 21 The Belarusian team added four medals at the European Games in Baku on June 21. Today, our trampoline jumpers won 2 silver and bronze. Another bronze was won by shooter Vitaly Bubnovich. He became third after athletes from France and Croatia. Today 25 sets of medals are being contested. Belarus gymnast Melitina Stanyuta also has a chance to win a medal today. The women's acrobatic trio may scoop another medal for Belarus today. All in all, Belarus won eight medals yesterday. Belarus now boasts 31 medals.

Belarus' Melitina Stanyuta settles for bronze at European Games in Baku Another two bronze medals for Belarus at the European Games. Melitina Stanyuta posted a good performance in the individual all-around in Baku and took third place.  Stanyuta was behind two Russians. Another Belarusian Ekaterina Galkina was sixth. In the morning of June 19 Ekaterina Borisevich, Veronika Nabokina and Karina Sandovich showed third best result in sports acrobatics. Belarus are currently 4th in the medal standings.

Belarusian team takes rhythmic gymnastics bronze in group exercises at European Games The first set of awards in rhythmic gymnastics has been contested at the Baku European Games. In the all-around group exercises, the national team of Belarus won bronze in the all-around. In the first routine with five ribbons Belarusians showed only seventh result, earning 16.950 points.  But in the exercises with clubs and hoops Belarusians were brilliant, earning the top spot - 17.900, making the total score 34.850. It allowed them to take third step on the podium. 
Victoria Chaika of Belarus wins bronze in 10m air pistol shooting Belarusian shooter Victoria Chaika won the bronze medal in 10m air pistol shooting. The final result showed Viktor Chaika 177.4 points. The Serbian athlete Zorana Arunovic (199.5) won gold while Spain's Sonia Franquet (196.3).  Later, men will define the best athlete in the same discipline. Two Belarusians - Vitaly Kudi and Yevgeny Zaichik - will take part.

These machines are able to move quickly and perform virtuoso maneuvers.  An unusual race was held in the Rostov region of Russia.  The event featured only MTZ tractors, which are produced in Belarus. Taking part in the race were drivers and machine operators from Russian regions. The 11-kilometer track had jumps, mud pits, steep turns and even a fire obstacle.

Belarus into second stage of EuroBasket Women 2015 The women's national basketball team of Belarus, after victories over Italy and Poland, won in their third match in a row at the European Championship, beating one of the favorites of the tournament Turkey in the Romanian town of Oradea.  Suffice it to say that Turkey took medals from two previous Euros silver in 2011 and bronze in 2013. At the World Championships in 2014 the Turkish team took 4th place, and were 5th at the 2012 Olympics in London. Modern Pentathlon World Cup Final to be held in Minsk in June Very soon, Minsk will host the prestigious tournament - Pentathlon World Cup Final. While the organizers are actively preparing to the important start, the athletes continue to compete. On June 3, Minsk played host to the Pentathlon Open Championship of Belarus. This year Belarusians were joined at the tournament by athletes from 11 countries, including from Russia. Apart from competing they wanted to find out more about Belarus’ infrastructure and conditions that are necessary for the holding of the World Cup final.

Belarus continues preparation for Euro 2016 qualifier against Spain The Belarusian national football team continues to prepare for the Euro 2016 qualifier against European champions Spain.  After Sunday's defeat at the hands of Russia 2:4 coach Alexander Khatskevich’s side conducted the first training session. Denis Laptev made an international debut against Russia. The FC Slavia Mozyr striker is the top scorer in the Belarusian championship now. Also in the team is Ivan Mayevsky, who is currently considered to be one of the best midfielders of the Polish championship.

Belarus national ice hockey team in 2014-15 season: summary The Belarusian national ice hockey team of Belarus entered the World Championships quarterfinals for the fourth time in history. At the WM in the Czech Republic, our players won four times: against the Slovenes, the Danes, the Norwegians, and the Americans. Our guys put pressure on the most famous rivals. In the matches against the Canadians and Russians this tactic did not work, but in other games Dave Lewis' side showed bright modern hockey.

Belarus scoop 29 medals at Kickboxing World Cup in Szeged The national anthem of Belarus played 10 times at the Kickboxing World Cup in Hungary. All in all, our athletes won 29 medals at the tournament.  Belarusian masters of Muay Thai regularly return from international competitions with pockets full of cups and medals. This forum was no exception.  This circumstance is especially pleasing given that the Belarusian team went to Szeged without some of their key team members.
Belarusian strongman Kirill Shimko pulls 118-tonne crane over 1.435m Kirill Shimko pushed and dragged the tower crane weighing 118 tons over 1 meter 43 centimeters and 5 millimeters. The Belarusian strongman on May 27 tried to set a new world record. Experts will later determine whether he managed to break a record or not. This was the first time Kirill Shimko had done this. We cannot say that this was easy. The strongman repeatedly took time out to catch his breath. But the multi-ton machine surrendered under the pressure of the Belarusian athlete.
Belarusian Alina Talai takes silver in women's 100m hurdles in Ostrava Belarus runner Alina Talay continues to delight with the results. The Belarusian successfully performed at a tournament of the IAAF World Challenge Meetings, which was held in Ostrava.  In her favorite distance, 100 meters hurdles, she clocked 12.78 seconds to finish second. Talay was slower than American Neville, who set a new record of the competition. Earlier the Belarusian won the 100m hurdles in the Netherlands with 12.70 seconds.

Belarusian runner Alina Talai wins hurdles event in the Netherlands The Belarusian athlete Alina Talay won the prestigious tournament of the IAAF World Challenge Meetings, which stage was held in the Netherlands. She scooped gold in the 100m hurdles.  The Belarusian showed the best time among all participants of the race - 12.70 seconds. The result was a new personal best for the athlete in this event.  It is noteworthy that the event in the Netherlands was Alina Talay's first in the current summer season.

Belarus' Ekaterina Galkina wins 3 medals at Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup in Uzbekistan After the Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championships 2015 in Minsk in early May, Belarusian gymnasts continued to fight for the World Cup awards. At the fourth World Cup in Tashkent (Uzbekistan), the Belarusian athlete Ekaterina Galkina won three awards (1 silver and 2 bronze medals) in individual routines. She won silver in the clubs event earning 17.950 points. Ekaterina added two bronze medals in the ball (18.100) and ribbon (17.900) finals.

2nd international cycling competition underway at Minsk Arena At Minsk Arena's velodrome, the 2nd international cycling competition was held. The competitions meet the highest category of the International Cycling Union and are included in the international calendar. Last year, there were 7 countries taking part in the event, but now their number went up to 16, with about 150 participants. The events are being held in several track categories among which are omnium, sprint, scratch and points race.

Belarus to face Canada in 2015 IIHF WM quarterfinals Belarus have managed to win at Norway in their final 2015 IIHF WM group stage match. Thus, Belarusians qualified to the quarterfinal where they face Canada, who are top of Group A. Belarusians were 3-0 in front but won with the score 3-2 against Norway in their late group stage encounter. Norway were close to sending the match into overtime but Belaurs stood firm, mainly thanks to Lalande's game.

Shots: 30-23 Saves: 18-28 PIM: 8-10 Artur Gavrus opened the scoring in the second period. Later in the same stanza, Artyom Volkov and Alexander Kitarov added a goal each for a sensational 3-0 win. Belarus trounce Denmark 5:1 at 2015 IIHF WM Yevgeny Kovyrshin was voted Belarus' best player in the game against Denmark, which Belarus easily won 5-1 at the 2015 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in the Czech Republic's Ostrava. The Danes opened the scoring early in the match, with Julian Jakobsen netting. Belarus could not reply in the first stanza but made a huge difference in the second and third, winning them 3:0 and 2:0 respectively to make it 5:1 by the final siren.
Belarus win 11 medals at 2015 European Canoe Sprint Championships The Belarusian national canoe/kayak team were met on May 4 at National Airport Minsk. Our guys did well at the European Championships in the Czech Republic. Head coach Vladimir Shantarovich's Belarus won 11 awards. However, only three of them were taken in the Olympic classes of boats. But these medals are still not less valuable. Rowers will have a difficult competitive year. And it is always a pleasure to start with a victory.

Belarus v Slovakia - 1:2 (0:0, 0:0, 1:1, 0:1). May 3. Ostrava. CEZ Arena. 8,812 spectators. Shots: 18-34. Penalties in minutes: 8-10.  The duel against the Slovaks was very hard for Belarusians. At the beginning of the first period, they made frequent mistakes in simple situations, and only the skills of Kevin Lalande kept the Belarus goals untouched.

Russians also won in the individual routines with the hoop and the ball.  Meletina Stanyuta of Belarus scooped silver in the hoops event and bronze in the ball routine. Another Belarus' bronze went to Ekaterina Galkina.

Belarus get five medals at Canoe Sprint European Championships The Canoe Sprint European Championships is about to complete in the Czech town of Račice. Belarus has won a lot of medals, five of them coming on May 3 alone. One of them is gold. Gold was scooped by the duo of Margarita Makhneva and Marina Litvinchuk in K2 Senior Women (200m).  All other Sunday medals (two silver and two bronze medals) were won by male rowers.

On May 2, in the morning session program, Belarusians won silver in the group all-around.  Only Russia, who took gold in the event, were stronger than Belarusians that day. Belarus head coach Irina Leparskaya cried from happiness after the "silver success".  It was the audience that inspired Ekaterina Galkina. The girl showed fourth result in exercise with hoops and was second in the ball routine.
