American basketball player Lindsay Harding receives Belarusian passport The Belarus national women's basketball team received an unexpected gain. As it turned out, the issuance of passports to foreigners is a standard practice in Belarusian hockey. American Lindsey Harding has just acquired Belarusian citizenship. The 30-year-old playmaker, who earlier in played in the WNBA clubs, as well as in the Turkish Galatasaray, will be able to join the team of coach Anatoly Buyalsky already at the upcoming European Championships in June. There, Belarus will take on group B opponents Poland, Turkey, Italy and Greece.

Biathletes have tested snow and the track today. There are some examples of successful duos in sport. The gymnast Lyudmila Turishcheva and the athlete Valery Borzov, biathletes Liv Grete and Raphaël Poirée were all equally successful. Raubichi hosts final training session before start of IBU Youth/Junior World Championships Biathlon 2015 Raubichi are ready for the start of the IBU Youth/Junior World Championships Biathlon 2015. Athletes are put in almost ideal conditions. The final training sessions were held on February 17. The biathletes have noted a high quality of the track and the entire complex. Additional roller tracks have appeared after the renovation and Raubichi now boasts a unique indoor shooting range. Some 37 national teams will take part in the competition.

This is how TV audience sees a biathlon competition – maximum information, lots of cameras and every detail on the screen. Captions throughout the distance allow us to watch every breath of an athlete. However, there are many ordinary things are hidden from our eyes. What we don’t see is kilometers of wires, through which information flows including about athletes’ results at shooting ranges.
Junior biathlete from France: Belarus has an excellent track, better than that in Austria! On February 17, the IBU Youth/Junior World Championships Biathlon 2015 officially open in Belarus' Raubichi. More than 600 athletes from 37 countries have already arrived in Minsk. This is the first time Belarus has hosted a competition of such a high level. On the eve of the official start, shooting skiers shared first impressions. Teams from Austria, Germany, Sweden and Canada landed in the Belarusian capital on February 15. Young athletes were preparing intensively for the races.

Raubichi ski complex: History The sports complex derives its name from a local village. Once man with an ancient name Rouba lived here, while his children and grandchildren were called roubichi (belonging to the Rouba family), the village entered the annals with this very name.  When in the Soviet years, the authorities were looking for a place for the World Cup Biathlon, Raubichi proved to be better than other venues, including the Belarusian Logoysk. Suitable climate, the wind rose, and location near both the capital and the airport.

Domracheva did not allow a mistake during the race, while her main rival, Kaisa Mäkäräinen from Finland, missed three times and in the end turned out to be far below the top three winners. This was a key point in the distribution of places in the overall World Cup table.

Belarusian sambo wrestlers win team event at World Cup in Minsk The 19th open championship of Belarus in sambo for the prizes of the President of the Republic of Belarus has finished. More than 200 athletes from 18 countries competed on the Minsk Sports Palace carpet. For the first time, taking part in the tournament were also women, as well as representatives of combat sambo. Belarusians can boast 13 gold medals in 2015.

Four Belarusians were among its participants. Darya Domracheva, three-time Olympic champion, won silver. Domracheva made one mistake in shooting. Her arch rival in the fight for the Big Crystal Globe Kaisa Mäkäräinen won the race. 13th Tournament in memory of Nikolai Genov held in Novopolotsk In Novopolotsk, which is rightfully considered to be the mecca of Belarusian water skiing, the 13th tournament in the memory of Nikolai Genov was held. It is with his help that the water skiing became the symbol of the city. This year, apart from Belarusian sportsmen, guests from Russia and Poland took part in the competition. The results were quite predictable. Most of the medals were won by sportsmen from Novopolotsk. In the 15-year-old category, Irina Hukhriakova and Kirill Lapkovski were the leaders.

One could think that Belarusians should know how to cope with a tractor. However, maybe because half of Dinamo hockey players are international, or because The ‘Bison’ have already booked their place in the Gagarin Cup playoff in the previous game against Yugra, the team did not manage to spoil the evening for their rivals from Chelyabinsk.

He believes that in the country of Victoria Azarenka and Max Mirnyi, he can become a renowned sportsman. On 6 February, there started the first qualification round of the Tennis Europe Winter Cup. Alexander believes he has a chance to win the tournament. Alexander Zgirovsky has already won international tournaments. He is Europe’s No.3 in the U14 category in tennis.

HC Neman Grodno captain Andrey Korshunov Andrey Korshunov is the player of January, according to the “Goryachi Led” (Hot Ice) television program. Last month, he became one of the main factors for the Grodno club’s success in the IIHF Continental Cup. Korshunov was named the best defenceman, as well as the top goalscorer in the Super Final. He has everything for a typical ice hockey hero: a captain’s stripe, lack of a foretooth and, of course, a huge army of fans. Andrey has always wanted to play for his hometown ice hockey club Neman Grodno. The dream came true.

HC Dinamo Minsk secures early Gagarin Cup playoff berth The Belarusian club Dinamo Minsk have secured at least a place in the Gagarin Cup playoffs. The Bison became unattainable for competitors on February 7 after defeating Ugra 3:1 in the Kontinental Hockey League. After two periods the game was level: Linglet opened the scoring but Gusev replied. In the third period, the Minsk club managed to put pressure and netted twice. Linglet and then Allison made it 3:1 to make it the most important victory of Dinamo.

Alexander Lukashenko attends festivities in honor of Sochi Olympics anniversary On February 7, Sochi hosted celebrations in honor of the anniversary of the opening of the Winter Olympic Games 2014. The ceremony was attended by Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko, who came with his youngest son Nikolai at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Belarus U21 finds out Euro 2017 qualifying opponents The Belarus U21, who have recently returned from the Commonwealth Cup with bronze medals, are getting ready for new challenges. On February 5, Switzerland's Nyon hosted a draw for the Euro 2017 qualifying.  Belarus will face the Netherlands, Slovakia, Turkey and Cyprus in their group. Manager Igor Kovalevich's charges will hold their first game on September 6 at home against Slovakia.

But the morning game against South Africa was much more optimistic. Belarus snatched a confident 11:0 win.

Meshkov Brest lose to Macedonia's Vardar in SEHA League HC Meshkov Brest have suffered a fourth defeat in a match of the Southeast Handball Association (SEHA League). Most of the first half of the away match against Macedonian Vardar Brest handball players were in the lead, having gone to the break with a tie - 13:13. Vardar were behind at the end of the game but eventually celebrated a 28:25 victory. Vardar, in seven home games of the this SEHA League season won seven victories. In the game of the first round, Brest Meshkov managed to beat Vardar in Brest 30:22.

Belarus national ice hockey team travel to Denmark to international tournament The Belarusian national ice hockey team traveled to Denmark to an international tournament, where they will meet with the hosts as well as Norway and France. The Belarus squad was approved only on February 4 after the final training session.  Some 24 players, including three goalies, headed for Denmark. Dave Lewis, Belarus head coach, said that the purpose of the training session was to identify the players who could replace the athletes from the first team. Lewis added that he could not name particular names because these players need to be tested in action.

Belarusian athletes won two medals. Paralympian Dmitry Ryshkevich scooped gold, while bronze went to Stanislav Scherbachenya.

Athletes from Belarus have shown good results.  Ilya Chergeyko and Vitaly Bubnovich took the top two steps of the podium in the air rifle shooting at a distance of 10m, while Yevgeny Zaichik won silver of the pistol tournament.

The Samarians pretty quickly took the lead. But the Belarusian side not only restored the parity but also increased the lead to 15 points by the end of the first half. Belarus' Domracheva wins mass start at World Cup Oberhof Belarusian biathlete Darya Domracheva, with 4 misses (2 + 1 + 0 + 1), won the mass start at the World Cup Biathlon in Oberhof, Germany.
