Belarus to face Canada in 2015 IIHF WM quarterfinals Belarus have managed to win at Norway in their final 2015 IIHF WM group stage match. Thus, Belarusians qualified to the quarterfinal where they face Canada, who are top of Group A. Belarusians were 3-0 in front but won with the score 3-2 against Norway in their late group stage encounter. Norway were close to sending the match into overtime but Belaurs stood firm, mainly thanks to Lalande's game.

Two golds for Belarus at World Rowing Cup 1 in Slovenia Slovenia's Bled is hosting the first World Rowing Cup. The Belarusian team won three awards, two of which are gold. Gold in the singles races was won by Ekaterina Karsten. Belarus scooped another gold in the men's M4-. In the men's M2-, Maxim Furman and Denis Suravets took bronze. France and Hungary were also on the podium in this event.

Belarus stun USA 5-2 at 2015 IIHF WM Belarus have sensationally won against hot favorites USA 5-2 at the 2015 IIHF World Championship. USA 2-5 Belarus (0-0, 1-3, 1-2). Shots: 30-23 Saves: 18-28 PIM: 8-10 Artur Gavrus opened the scoring in the second period. Later in the same stanza, Artyom Volkov and Alexander Kitarov added a goal each for a sensational 3-0 win. However, the USA pulled one back through Brock Nelson’s shot.

Belarus aiming at two Olympic licenses at 2015 World Boxing Championships Minsk is hosting the 13th international boxing tournament in memory of the hero of the Soviet Union Viktor Liventsev. Taking part in the competition are over 80 participants from 10 countries. Belarusians as hosts have three full squads. An interesting feature of this edition of the competition is that new rules allow athletes from 18 to 40 to take part. For the strongest boxers, the Minsk tournament is the last rehearsal prior to the first European Games in Baku.

Belarus trounce Denmark 5:1 at 2015 IIHF WM Yevgeny Kovyrshin was voted Belarus' best player in the game against Denmark, which Belarus easily won 5-1 at the 2015 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in the Czech Republic's Ostrava. The Danes opened the scoring early in the match, with Julian Jakobsen netting. Belarus could not reply in the first stanza but made a huge difference in the second and third, winning them 3:0 and 2:0 respectively to make it 5:1 by the final siren.
Belarus win 11 medals at 2015 European Canoe Sprint Championships The Belarusian national canoe/kayak team were met on May 4 at National Airport Minsk. Our guys did well at the European Championships in the Czech Republic. Head coach Vladimir Shantarovich's Belarus won 11 awards. However, only three of them were taken in the Olympic classes of boats. But these medals are still not less valuable. Rowers will have a difficult competitive year. And it is always a pleasure to start with a victory.

Belarus succumb to 1:2 defeat against Slovakia at 2015 IIHF World Championships Belarus lost to Slovakia in overtime in the second match of the 2015 IIHF World Championship. Belarus v Slovakia - 1:2 (0:0, 0:0, 1:1, 0:1). May 3. Ostrava. CEZ Arena. 8,812 spectators. Shots: 18-34. Penalties in minutes: 8-10.  The duel against the Slovaks was very hard for Belarusians. At the beginning of the first period, they made frequent mistakes in simple situations, and only the skills of Kevin Lalande kept the Belarus goals untouched.
Belarus' Stanyuta takes two medals at Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championships 2015 The 2015 Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championships completed at Minsk Arena on May 3.  The host team, Belarus, had to settle for silver in the team event being outgunned by Russia. Russians also won in the individual routines with the hoop and the ball.  Meletina Stanyuta of Belarus scooped silver in the hoops event and bronze in the ball routine. Another Belarus' bronze went to Ekaterina Galkina.

Belarus get five medals at Canoe Sprint European Championships The Canoe Sprint European Championships is about to complete in the Czech town of Račice. Belarus has won a lot of medals, five of them coming on May 3 alone. One of them is gold. Gold was scooped by the duo of Margarita Makhneva and Marina Litvinchuk in K2 Senior Women (200m).  All other Sunday medals (two silver and two bronze medals) were won by male rowers.

On May 2, in the morning session program, Belarusians won silver in the group all-around.  Only Russia, who took gold in the event, were stronger than Belarusians that day. Belarus head coach Irina Leparskaya cried from happiness after the "silver success".  It was the audience that inspired Ekaterina Galkina. The girl showed fourth result in exercise with hoops and was second in the ball routine.

Belarusian judo wrestlers about male friendship in sport and their dreams For the two friends, this season turned out to be completely different. Dmitry Shershen regularly updated his medal luggage: bronze at the European Championship, gold at the World Cup, and silver at the Grand Prix and twice at the Continental Cup. Alexander Steshenko had bad luck. But at the last competition of 2014 (the Grand Slam license tournament in Abu Dhabi) both friends celebrated success. Dmitry Shershen won gold, while Aleskander Steshenko finished third.

Belarus to get bronze medal of European Swimming Championship 2013 after Russia's disqualification The Belarus men's swimming team have become European Championship bronze medalists.  We are talking about the continental championship held in 2013.  Back then, our boys finished fourth in the 4x50m Medley Relay.  But due to the disqualification of the Russian swimmer champion Vitaly Melnikov, the result of his team was annulled. Thus, bronze medals will be awarded to the Belarusians after 1.5 years.
Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championships will be held in Minsk from 1 to 3 May
Athletes arrive in Minsk for Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championships Participants of the European championship in rhythmic gymnastics are arriving in Minsk. Teams from Turkey and Portugal have already arrived. The competition will bring together about 600 gymnasts from 38 countries. They will contest seven sets of medals. Winners will be determined in group and individual events. The championships will last from 1 to 3 May and will be held at Minsk Arena. The continental tournament will end with a traditional gala presentation of the best gymnasts.

Colombia beat Paraguay 4:0 to win AMF Futsal World Cup Colombia's national team won the 11th AMF Futsal World Cup, which was held in five Belarusian towns from 17 to 25 April. In the final match, the Colombians who won the world cup in 2000 and 2011, took over Paraguay 4:0. Argentina scooped bronze medals after beating Belgium 7:1. The results of the semi-finals: Paraguay 2:1 Argentina, Colombia 6:0 Belgium.

VC Stroitel: The strongest volleyball club in Belarus Stroitel is again the strongest volleyball club in Belarus. Head coach Alexander Singayevsky's charges have won the National Championship gold medals for a sixth time in a row. In addition, this season, the Minsk club reached the semifinals of the European Challenge Cup.   Alexander Singayevsky's team competed in the Cup of Russia, won the Belarus Cup and then reached the semifinals in Europe. Finally, they got the gold of the championship of Belarus.

Belarus' Domracheva, Skardino on podium after Champions Race in Tyumen On April 5, Tyumen hosted the so-called Race of Champions, in which Belarusian biathletes also took part. Belarusian Darya Domracheva won her second race in as many days. Yesterday she triumphed in the mega mass start finishing 20 seconds ahead of Daria Virolainen from Russia. This time she stopped the clock after 15:59.2.  Another Nadezhda Skardino was only 5.5 seconds slower. Italian Karin Oberhofer came in third to scoop bronze.

Belarusians win 11 medals, set five records at European Powerlifting Championship in Prague As many as 24 countries took part in the European Powerlifting Championship in Prague, the Czech Republic. The Belarusian team came back with an impressive number of awards – seven gold, two silver and two bronze medals, as well as five championship records. Quite often, amateurs take powerlifting for arm wrestling or bodybuilding, though power triathlon is neither of them. It can be viewed as a basis for all sports where athletes lift weights.

Shooters from Belarus clinch four awards at international tournament in Poland Belarusian shooters have won four awards at a major international tournament in Poland's Wroclaw. Ilya Chergeyko won the silver medal in the 50m small-caliber rifle event (three positions). In the same discipline, Vitaly Bubnovich took third place. Bubnovich also scooped bronze medals in the 50m small-caliber rifle (prone) and 10m air rifle.

Minsk residents solemnly meet Darya Domracheva, biathlete No.1 in the world Darya Domracheva was solemnly met at National Airport Minsk after arriving home from her most successful World Cup season ever. Relatives, friends and many fans of the athlete gathered in the arrival hall to extend a warm welcome to the renowned biathlete.  The three-time Olympic champion, twice world champion, Hero of Belarus, and now the winner of the Big Crystal Globe - this is all our Dasha. She won this season's overall World Cup standings. This is the first Big Crystal Globe in Domracheva's career.

The handball team of coach Zeljko Babic, BGK, were crushed by Hungary's Veszprém 21:32. The meeting was held at the venue of the Hungarian club. The BGK played in SEHA League final for the second year in a row. Last season, the Brest side lost to the Macedonian handball Vardar in the final.

By the second technical break, the Serbs were 16:9 ahead and immediately let Stroitel know that the fight would be very hard. The Minsk side leveled the game in the next set 1:1 and it seemed everything will be okay, especially because they were playing at home.

Freestyle skiing center in Minsk to open in test mode March 27 The freestyle center in Minsk is set to open in test mode on March 27. The object will be the basis for the development of freestyle, aerial acrobatics and synchronized swimming in Belarus. It can accommodate 200 athletes at the same time. They can use a swimming pool with diving board, as well as a unique springboard. It was erected by the Swiss technology. The mechanism allows making jumps and simulating real conditions. In addition, the center will operate a water park and recreation area.

On March 23, the chairman of the supervisory board of the club Igor Shunevich met with the Slovak specialist. After the victory over Red October on March 22, coach Igor Grischuk's charges defeated Finland's Bisons Loimaa.  The date against "buffalos" in October was one of Tsmoki's most unsuccessful matches of the season. That was a painful defeat with a goal difference of 23 points.

On March 22, in Russia's Khanty-Mansiysk, she was fourth in the mass start at the final stage of the World Cup Biathlon.  Dasha's main rival in the overall standings - Kaisa Mäkäräinen - finished only 13th. Thus the Belarusian biathlete lifted the Big Globe. Big Crystal Globe is the only award the three-time Olympic champion did not win in her career.

This is the first Big Crystal Globe in the career of the three-time Olympic champion. Before the start, Darya Domracheva was 33 points ahead of Mäkäräinen. She needed a place from 1st to 12th to secure a victory in the overall standings.

Domracheva needs place above 13th in March 22 mass start to win World Cup Biathlon The men's and women's pursuit completed the picture of the final stage of the World Cup Biathlon in Khanty-Mansiysk. Canadian Nathan Smith won the men's event.  In the previous race, Kaisa Mäkäräinen almost closed the gap between herself and Darya Domracheva in the overall World Cup standings. That is why the best biathlete knew that she had to do her best to win the pursuit.

Volleyball: Fantastic performance of Stroitel Minsk at European Challenge Cup It is a very common thing for Belarusian athletes – to create problems and then handle them with dignity. In the first match of the CEV Challenge Cup quarterfinal VC Stroitel Minsk lost to Turkey’s Maliye Milli Piyango in the first leg – 0:3. It meant that in the return match at home, they could lose only one set, and they used this “right” - 24:26. The spirits of both the supporters and the team were dampened, but then Stroitel focused on the match and, what is the most important, believed in themselves.

Belarusian Alexandra Romanovskaya 3rd at European Cup Freestyle The European Cup Freestyle was successful for the Belarusian athlete Alexandra Romanovskaya.  With a score of 151.37 points, she won a bronze medal, losing to little more than one point to the Russian athlete Lyubov Nikitina who was 1st. Another Belarusian athlete, Vera Leshkevich, got into the final, too, but she could not make it to the podium. The athlete was fifth.

Belarusians bag 5 medals at European Cup Winter Throwing in Portugal The European Cup Winter Throwing finished in Portugal's Leiria. On the final day of the tournament, Belarusian athletes added two awards to the three medals won on the first day of competition. Elena Soboleva won first place in the women's U23 setting a personal record. Alexander Kozlovsky scooped bronze in the U23 javelin. All in all, Belarus won five medals at the European Cup Winter Throwing.    In the women’s U23 shot, Viktoryia Kolb was third. Silver went to Yury Vasilchanka in the men’s U23 hammer.
Andrei Mezin joins Belarus national hockey team coaching staff Andrei Mezin will become one of members of the coaching staff of the Belarusian national ice hockey team. It is assumed that the goalkeeper, who has recently finished his playing career, will act as a junior goalkeeping coach.  Swedish specialist Michael Lehner is going to be the senior goalkeeping coach. Mezin will also be responsible for the training of younger goaltenders.
Meshkov Brest crush Macedonia's Metalurg 26:17 in SEHA League The Brest handball club named  after Meshkov concluded the regular SEHA season.  In the final match of the 18th tour, in Skopje, the champions of Belarus defeated Macedonian defeated Metalurg 26:17. The result of this game was not of fundamental importance for BGK. They long ago secured their place in the top six, which will let them compete for awards.  The defeat of the hosts deprived them of chances for the final stage of the International League.

BATE lift Belarusian Super Cup again The first trophy of the football season was won by FC BATE Borisov. The Belarusian Super Cup was contested in Belarus' town of Pinsk. Ninety minutes was not enough for BATE and Shakhtyor to score - 0-0.  In the penalty shootout, BATE prevailed, largely thanks to the three saves of their goalie Sergei Chernik. Last year, BATE also won the Super Cup ousting FC Minsk 1-0 thanks to Mladenovic's 19th-minute shot.

Belarus 7th in relay at Biathlon World Championships 2015 Belarusian biathlon fans on March 13 evening once again sat in front of TV screens hoping to finally see the representatives of Belarus on the podium of the World Championship in Kontiolahti. The women's relay race, however, did not bring any medals again. Prior to the race, Belarus were third in the women’s relay standings and were among favorites to win medals in the event. Nadezhda Skardino began the race fairly well and despite being 10th after the first stage, the gap was only 15 seconds.

10-year-old blind Daniil Savenya sings original anthems of countries before matches at Minsk Arena 10-year-old Daniel Savenya from the town of Slutsk became the favorite of Dinamo Minsk hockey fans this season.  The blind pupil of the Molodechno boarding school performs the national anthems in the original language in front of the crowd at Minsk Arena. 15,000 fans stand and applaud. Videos where Daniil performs anthems a cappella receive up to 40,000 views on the Internet.

Belarusian shooters win two medals at 10m European Championship Belarusian shooters claimed two bronze medals at the 10m European Championship 2015 in Arnhem, the Netherlands. One of the leaders of the Belarus national team, Ilya Chergeiko, was third in the men's 10m rifle. Belarus also won a medal in the team event. The team included Yuri Shcherbatsevich, Vitaly Bubnovich and the same Ilya Chergeiko. Belarus were behind Italy and Russia. In the medal standings, Belarus occupied 12th place with two bronze medals. Russia won in the medal standings after bagging eight awards.

Biathlon World Championship 2015: Domracheva seventh in pursuit The Biathlon World Championship is underway in Finland's Kontiolahti. On Sunday, March 8, two pursuit races took place but they did not bring any medals to Belarusians. For now, Belarus has not won any medals. Failing the sprint, Darya Domracheva started only 25th yesterday but during the race she cut the deficit and finished in 7th place. France's Marie Dorin Habert again won the race as on March 7. Belarusians, Anastasia Duborezova and Nadezhda Pisareva, unfortunately, did not even make it to the top thirty.

Belarus claims two silver medals at European Athletics Championships in Prague On March 7, Belarus won two silver medals at the European Athletics Championships that are underway in Prague. Earlier, Alina Talai won gold in the 60m hurdles with a national record. Yulia Leontyuk took second place in the women's shot put with a score of 18 meters 60 centimeters. Svetlana Kudelich went on the podium at the end of the 3,000m race, setting yet another national record in the tournament - 8 minutes 48.02 seconds. March 8 is the last day of the competition in Prague.

After two singles victories on March 6, Belarus were to win the doubles match. The task was not easy but doable. Sergey Betov and Alexander Buryi beat James Cluskey and David O'Hara in four sets: 7:6, 5:7, 6:3, 6:4. On March 8, two singles matches will be held, though they are just a formality.

Yuri Liadov has the most favorable starting position of all Belarusians in the men's event. The sportsman took sixteenth place yesterday in the sprint, losing to the leader almost a minute. Women will compete in the evening. Yesterday, in the sprint, leaders of the overall World Cup standings led by Belarusian Darya Domracheva stayed in the shadow. However, the three-time Olympic champion has already won the small crystal globe in the sprint standings.

The only Brazilian international in Belarusian futsal holds master class for kids The new generation of Belarusian futsal received instructions from a world-class star. The only Brazilian international in the Belarusian Championship - Roninho - held a master class at the training session of the children's futsal club Capital-Uni. Ronin told the kids about Brazilian technique and showed how to better select the ball and shoot on goal. By the end of the master-class, the children's team met a team of coaches.
