Belarus into Fed Cup World Group final
Belarus has won against Switzerland in the semifinal of the Fed Cup 2017 and has entered the tournament's final where it will take on the USA.
On Saturday, Belarus and Switzerland won one singles match each. Viktorija Golubic lost to Aliaksandra Sasnovich and then Timea Bacsinszky ousted Aryna Sabalenka.
On the next day, Aliaksandra Sasnovich confidently overpowered Timea Bacsinszky to make the score 2:1.
Belarus v Switzerland Fed Cup draw made
The semifinal match of the Federation Cup between Belarus and Switzerland is getting closer. On April 21, a draw was held to determine the sequence of matches.

Runner Volha Mazuronak first to register for Minsk Half Marathon 2017
Volha Mazuronak became the first participant of the Minsk Half Marathon 2017. Registration for the main sports race of the year opened April 13.
Two-time winner of the event, Mazuronak received the first bib number.
The marathon organizers expect that about 30,000 people will partake in the September 10 race.
Traditionally, a choice of three distances will be offered: 5.5, 10 and 22km. The prize fund of the half-marathon will be at least $25,000.
The route will not change compared to the 2016 marathon.
Govortsova rises to 147th place in WTA rankings after victory at Indian Harbor Beach
Belarusian Olga Govortsova has won the tennis tournament in USA's Indian Harbor Beach, with a prize fund of 80,000 dollars. In the final, the Belarusian defeated an opponent from the USA Amanda Anisimova, 6:3, 4:6, 6:3.
Through this, Govortsova improved her position in the WTA rankings. She rose from 190th to 147th place.

Belarus Olga Govortsova wins ITF tennis tournament in USA
Belarusian tennis player Olga Govortsova won the ITF tournament in Indian Harbour Beach (USA), with a prize fund of $80,000.
In the final match, 28-year-old Olga Govortsova (World No190) won against 15-year-old Amanda Anisimova of the US (No479), 6:3, 4:6, 6:3.
Indian Harbor Beach is the 7th singles title for Olga Govortsova. Also, she has nine titles in doubles tournaments.
Alexandra Sasnovich through to WTA main draw in Switzerland

Belarus' Egor Gerasimov won against Gerald Melzer 6:3, 6:3, 6:3 and on the same day Ilya Ivashka made it 2:0 after a hard win over Jurgen Melzer 7:6 (10:8), 6:3, 4:6, 7:6 (7:1).
Then Austrians pulled one back after Julian Knowle and Jurgen Melzer won against Max Mirnyi Yaraslav Shyla 4:6, 6:7 (6:8), 7:6 (7:3), 4:6.

Belarus, Russia to boost security ahead of 2018 World Cup
On the eve of the World Cup 2018, Belarus and Russia will strengthen security measures. Representatives of the Union State met in Grodno to discuss migration policy. They talked about making adjustments to the existing legislation and the equal validity of driving licenses in both countries.

Igor Kriushenko appointed Belarus national football team manager
Igor Kriushenko has become manager of the national football team of Belarus. This decision was taken at the Executive Committee meeting held on 22 March by the Belarusian Football Federation (ABFF).
Earlier Kriushenko was caretaker manager after the resignation of the previous head coach Alexander Khatskevich under whom Belarus did not get a successful start in the WC 2018 qualification gaining only 2 points in four matches.
Also, the ABFF meeting decided that Grodno will be the venue for the Belarusian Cup 2017.

Belarusian Football Cup quarterfinals: FC Dinamo Minsk draw FC Dinamo Brest
First matches of the Belarusian Cup quarterfinal were played last weekend in Belarus.
FC Shakhtyor Soligorsk easily won the away match against FC Lokomotiv Gomel (D1) with the score 3:0, while a derby involving FC Dinamo Minsk and FC Dinamo Brest ended in a draw. The host team was up till the half time with the score 2:0. The goals were scored by Premudrov and Galovic. After the half time, Brest fotball players evened the score, the goals were scored by Fameye and Osuchukwu, the final score was 2:2.
HC Griffony of Nikolai Lukashenko win Golden Puck ice hockey tournament
Minsk's HC Griffony have defended the champion's title of the republican competition Golden Puck in the younger age group (born in 2004-2005) in division A.
In the final match, which was held on March 12 at Chizhovka Arena, the team of the Tsentralnyi district of Minsk beat HC Medved of the Moskovsky district of Minsk 6:2.

Alina Talai wins silver at European Athletic Championship 2017
As many as two more medals were won by Belarusian athletes at the Indoor European Athletic Championship 2017.
Alina Talai took silver in Belgrade.
The Belarusian athlete lost 0.04 seconds to a German athlete Cindy Roleder in the 60-metre hurdles. The result of Alina Talai is 7.92 seconds. It is worth mentioning, that she showed better results at the qualification rounds.
Probably Alina felt nervous in the final, the equipment registered false start twice.
HC Dinamo Minsk knocked out of KHL playoffs
The first day of spring became the last day for Dinamo Minsk in the current season of the Kontinental Hockey League.
On March 1, in Yaroslavl, the Bison from Minsk suffered a fourth defeat at Lokomotiv Yaroslav in the quarterfinal series of the Western Conference and did not qualify for the next round.

Dinamo Minsk trailing 1:3 in KHL playoff
Dinamo Minsk have won their KHL playoff match against Lokomotiv Yaroslavl thus reducing the gap to 3:1. Dinamo won the fourth match of the quarterfinals 4:2 (2:0, 2:2, 0:0).
The three previous defeats did not leave Dinamo a chance for a mistake. Particularly painful was Dinamo's home defeat 1:5 in the third match of the series on 25 February.
Andrei Stepanov was Dinamo's "engine" during this game. It was his goal thanks to which Dinamo opened the scoring. After 17 minutes, Dinamo captain Alexander Pavlovich made it 2:0.
Minsk to host 2017 Muay Thai World Championships
More than 700 participants from 100 countries will take part in the Muay Thai world championships, which will be held in Minsk on 3-12 May. General secretary of the International Federation of Muay Thai (IFMA) Stephan Fox stressed that Belarus is developing sport at all levels, from schools to universities.

Second bronze for Belarus at Biathlon Junior World Championships
Belarusian biathletes have won the second medal at the Biathlon Junior World Championships in Slovakia. The Belarus team of Kirill Tyurin, Ilya Ovsiyenko and Dmitry Lazovsky came in third in the relay race.
Previously, Anton Smolski scooped bronze in the men's pursuit.
The Biathlon Junior World Championships ends on February 28.

The Belarusian biathlete Anton Smolski has won a bronze medal at the Biathlon Junior World Championships in Slovakia's Osrblie, the press service of the Belarusian biathlon federation reports.

Belarus takes 7th place at IBU World Championship Biathlon 2017
The Biathlon World Championships in the Austrian Hochfilzen came to an end. On the last competition day, biathletes were competing in women’s and men’s mass starts.
The German biathlete Laura Dahlmeier won a gold medal once again. The Belarusian biathlete Nadezhda Skardino became 16th and Darya Domracheva 19th.
The gold medal in the men’s mass start went to Simon Schempp. Belarusian biathletes didn’t take part in this race.

HC Yunost wins Belarusian ice hockey championship 2016-2017
HC Yunost Minsk has outperformed its opponents in the Belarus Ice Hockey Championship. After Sunday’s victory HC Yunost got 1st place in the regular championship, a place in the Continental Cup and the right to start the play-off series at home.

Belarusian sports cars may take part in Dakar Rally 2018
