Turkish President commemorates WWII victims in Belarus

History of street lighting in Minsk
Street lighting in Europe appeared in the 17th century. A hundred years later, the technology was used in Minsk for the first time.

Augustow Canal without visas: 300 tourists register to visit Grodno
During two weeks, 300 foreign tourists have registered to enter Grodno without visas. New rules of visiting the Augustow Canal and close-by territories came into force at the end of October.
The majority of tourists are from Poland and Lithuania. There are also guests from Spain, Germany, Italy, Finland and Belgium. To get the document that is a replacement for visa, travelers should go to tour operators of their country.

Svisloch waterfront’s reconstruction: 19 months of repairs
The reconstruction of the left bank of Svisloch has started in Minsk. Metal constructions are being installed to enclose the territory and paving flagstone is being dismantled.
The reconstruction plan includes 100 steps. It includes replacement of a parapet, installment of new stairs and rampant, expanding bike paths. Besides the ongoing repairs of the river’s waterfront, it is planned to tidy a water area.

Belarusians mostly satisfied with administration bodies
Some 74% of Belarusians respond to the work of state administration bodies positively. This is evidenced by an opinion poll.
According to the survey, 36% of respondents rated the administration bodies' work as "positive." The answer "rather positive" scored 38%. There are 7.5% of those who dislike the way administration bodies work, while there were 13% of those who think "rather negative". 5.5% of respondents did not make a decision.
In 2013, the state apparatus was optimized in Belarus, which resulted in a 25% reduction in the number of workers.
Car numbers double in Belarus in last 15 years

One of the oldest universities of Belarus celebrates its anniversary. A solemn meeting will be held in the Bolshoi Theater of Opera and Ballet on October 28, on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the Belarusian State University.
Representatives of the state bodies, ministries and foreign guests will come there to congratulate the university.

Animayovka Festival of Animation Films to open in Mogilev on October 28
On October 28, the festival of animated films Animayovka officially opens in Mogilev. It is carried out for the 19th time. This year, more than 30 countries sent applications to take part in the competition program alone.

Belarus, Serbia agree to cooperate in publishing and literature

Belarus’ President checks army officers’ skills

Cosmonaut Oleg Novitsky to deliver Belarusian flag to ISS
The Belarusian national flag is going to space. The National symbol will be delivered to orbit by Belarusian cosmonaut Oleg Novitsky.
The solemn ceremony of handover of the flag took place at the Russian embassy in Belarus on October 22. The start of the spaceship is planned for November 17, 2016 from Baikonur Cosmodrome.
This space mission is the second for Oleg Novitsky.

Belarus introduces age labeling of games, movies, music
From July 1, 2017 it will be forbidden to sell information products without age labeling in Belarus.

History of Red Church of Minsk
