Iosif Langbard: man who shaped Minsk of today The architect Iosif Langbard was born to a Jewish family in the town of Belsk in the former Grodno province (present-day Bielsk Podlaski, Poland) on January 18, 1882. His father wanted him to engage in trading business. However, Iosif liked painting and decided to be an architect. He studied architecture at the Grekov Odessa Art school and at the Imperial Academy of Arts in Petrograd. In 1914, Langbard defended his graduation thesis under the title "State Council Building" supervised by the famous architect Alexander Pomerantsev.

Corruption scandal at BelAZ: $1 million missing A theft of the century has been disclosed at Belarusian Automobile Plant (BelAZ). After 2015, the local staff found out that $1 million was missing. The criminals have created a real conveyor for removal and resale of parts of the world famous truck. Some parts weigh more than 800kg. So they had to use lifting equipment, work only at night and on weekends and rent trucks for transportation. They even established their own "protection group", which accompanied the stolen things all the time.

What are recent trends in Belarus' law enforcement system? The safety of Belarusians was discussed today, on January 28 in Minsk at a board of the Interior Ministry. The Belarus President took part in the meeting. Alexander Lukashenko criticized the ministry for some innovations, but at the same time pointed out that a positive results were achieved in a number of areas in 2015. Notably, Belarusians also agree with this. According to a study of the Information Analytical Center at the Presidential Administration, more than 80% of respondents feel safe when they are on the street or in public places.
