New Education Code draft submitted for public discussion in Belarus
An Education Code draft was submitted for public discussion. Deputies, senators, and rectors of the leading universities of Belarus have already joined it.
Children from 5 years old can go to the first grade, according to the new edition of the code. Occupancy of classes will be increased to 30 pupils.
NAVI band to perform in semifinal 2 at Eurovision Song Contest 2017
The official representative of Belarus at the international song contest Eurovision 2017 in Kiev NAVI band will perform in the second part of the second semi-final on May 11.
The draw of the participating countries for the two semi-finals was held on 31 January.
In total, this year the competition will involve 43 countries. It was determined that 18 countries will perform in the first semi-final on May 9, while 19 will perform in the second one on May 11.

Monuments of wooden Minsk
A monument of a small manor building towers stands in Bogushevich Square.
These wooden buildings were a part of the suburb of Grushevka at the beginning of the 20th century. Streets which associated with the Libau-Romny railway were located here. From 1907 to 1918, the wooden houses and sidewalks were built on this area.
Workers, employees of the railway and a car-repair plant lived here. Nevertheless, noblemen and peasants from the suburb of Minsk owned several houses too.
Belarusian student develops method to determine authenticity of art works
The postgraduate of the Yanka Kupala University of Grodno, Nikolai Kuryan, devised a method that allows determining the authenticity of a picture as well as the time of its creation with a high accuracy.
The development has already been tested in the museums of Grodno and Gomel. Moreover, Nikolai Kuryan was awarded a presidential scholarship.
Belarusian National History Museum presents restored chasuble
The National History Museum has presented the restored chasuble of the beginning of the 19th century. The finding is unique, because one part of the Catholic priest's vestment is sewn from several fragments of the world famous Slutsk belts, Belarus' hallmark.
The restoration of the valuable exhibit has been made possible through a presidential grant. It took experts over a year to restore the silk fabrics.
The historical discovery came to the museum in 2008. The original owner of the Catholic priest vestments is unknown.
BSU ready to provide educational services to Pakistani students
Belarusian universities will train students from Pakistan. The necessary documents are being developed.

Belarus says goodbye to People's Artist singer Alexander Tikhanovich
Belarus said farewell to famous singer Alexander Tikhonovich. The People's Artist died on Saturday aged 64. On January 30 morning, a funeral liturgy and funeral service was held at the Cathedral of Alexander Nevsky. Tikhanovich was not only a parishioner of the church, but also a chorister.

The budget of this project was $2 million.

Ivan Shishkin's artwork Forest was discovered in Belarus. The painting was seized during the arrest of members of a drug ring. It has been sent to the National Art Museum for examination.
Masterpieces of world art disappeared from the museum near Vladimir region in 2013.
Robbers handcuffed old woman-keeper to a radiator and stole the masterpieces. Three paintings such as Fisherman by Konstantin Korovin, First Snow by Stanislav Zhukovsky and Forest by Ivan Shishkin disappeared from the museum.

Educational reforms in Belarus in 2017
Belarusian university entrants will be able to pass four tests at the Centralized Testing instead of three. There are additional possibilities for entrants.
Validity of the certificates is changed, as well as the number of reserve days for the sitting of exams.
The Education Code is supplemented with some new articles. Now, you can use Centralized Testing certificates during two years instead of one, and the number of reserve days is increased from one to three.

Alternative service in Belarus: basic principles
