Belarusian writer Svetlana Aleksiyevich to receive Nobel Prize December 10 Belarusian writer Svetlana Aleksievich will get the Nobel Prize for Literature on December 10 in Stockholm. This will be the first Nobel Prize for a Belarusian. Journalist by profession, Aleksievich began her career in the mid-70s. Among the best known books in the genre of artistic and documentary prose are "War does not have a woman's face", "Zinc boys" and "Chernobyl Prayer". Her works are devoted to the life of the late Soviet and post-Soviet era. Since the beginning of the 2000s, the writer has lived in the West, and returned to Belarus two years ago.

After 75 years, KV-1 tank found in Vitebsk region’s marsh Who knows how many mysteries the Vitebsk region is hiding? One of them was cleared up several days ago. A Great Patriotic War military vehicle was found in the Senno district, Vitebsk region, and locals had to engage into a true rescue mission to dig up some of its parts! A heavy Kliment Voroshilov tank, also known as KV-1, was found in a marsh. It’s the first such finding in Belarus, which is literally sensational. The tank was in the marsh for 75 years.

Belarus Today: from weak post-Soviet state to respectful nation in the center of Europe Belarus has in recent years created a number of unique facilities, not only the NPP and made a lot of achievements.   Belarusians remember the 1990s as a period of complete chaos and collapse. They did not even think about the construction of the social, cultural and sports facilities. People were just trying to survive. Belarus today is a nice and clean (this is the first thing foreigners say), but also a modern, well-maintained, safe and comfortable.
