KGB noticed a passenger car parked on March 23 near the Academy of Sciences.
The man who drove the car to this place is now known.
This is a 32-year-old resident of Minsk Sergey Kuntsevich. In the car, law enforcement officers found megaphones, wires, a microphone and a cardboard box with dozens of bottles filled with liquid smelling of fuel mixture and wicks made from rags.
Hundreds of Belarusians take part in volunteer cleanup in Kurapaty March 25
A competition on the design of a memorial in Kurapaty was announced in Belarus on March 25, 2017. Hundreds of Belarusians came to the historic place to simply clean the territory up.
As many as 20 hectares of land will be cleared of dead tree stands and bushes through joint efforts of non-indifferent people.
The raised money will go towards installing a memorial sign here.
In the course of the next couple of days a charity fund will be opened, to which funds can also be transferred.

The Investigative Committee of Belarus has opened a criminal case after unknown persons threw a Molotov cocktail at the tax office building in Gomel. The criminal case is based on the article "Deliberate damage to property in publicly dangerous way". The crime was committed on March 24 in the morning.

The schoolboy Mark managed to recreate the working copy of the printer of the 16th century in just one day.
Caiman armored vehicle tested in Belarus
New Caiman armored vehicle is being tested in Brest training range in Belarus. Daily run on the rough, water barriers and shooting from different kinds of armaments. The test drive was held in the severest conditions.
The armored vehicle's purpose is to participate in intelligence and sabotage operations, peace-support missions, patrolling and escorting columns, carrying out actions under emergency conditions. Belarus customs disclose antique icon in parcel from USA
Minsk regional customs have disclosed an antique Smolensk icon of the Mother of God in a parcel from the USA. According to the declaration, the parcel should have contained a picture with a frame.
During an inspection by the customs officers, the gilded icon in silver riza and wrapped in polythene film and paper was found.
The icon was limned in the second half of the 19th century and is a cultural heritage. It is roughly estimated at $4,000.
Russian singer denied entry to Ukraine for Eurovision 2017
The Security Service of Ukraine has banned Russian singer Julia Samoilova from entering Ukraine for three years.

Armed people try to violate Belarus-Ukraine border near Aleksandrovka

A modernized military transport aircraft Il-76 (a multi-purpose four-engine turbofan strategic airlifter designed by the Soviet Union's Ilyushin design bureau) was passed into service to the military air forces of the Republic of Belarus.
Today Il-76 has a satellite navigation complex combined with the autopilot.

New child health service center opens in Minsk
A new child health service center with a salt therapy room, four swimming pools and new medical equipment was opened in Minsk microdistrict of Brilevichi. As many as 14,000 little patients are planned to be treated here.
The new health service center is scaled to have as many as 350 appointments in one working shift. Literally, the modern building was built in a four year period. There are two pediatric departments, a dental department, a diagnostic laboratory, a hall for therapeutic exercises and a phyto bar.
Belarus participating in koboshi dolls exhibition in memory of Fukushima victims
On March 11, an exhibition of okiagari-koboshi dolls (a symbol of resistance and endurance) opened in Kyiv. The international project is dedicated to the memory of the Fukushima nuclear accident.

Belarus' Education Code to be amended

A Gomel student has assembled an improvised robotic complex. It will help in the rehabilitation of patients who have suffered a stroke. The model is actually a glove equipped with microengines.

Wives of ambassadors to Belarus meet in Minsk
On the eve of March 8, Belarus' foreign minister's wife met with the wives of heads of diplomatic missions and representative offices of international organizations in Minsk.

Belarusians' Space Electronics book to be released in English in London
American and British experts in space technology will be able to adopt Belarusian experience.
A book on space electronics written by Belarusian authors will be the basis for the training of foreign students.
The book will be released in English in London in November 2017.
In the future, the work will be translated into other languages. The book summarizes the experience of the Belarusian company Integral in designing chips for space equipment.
Former Minsk mayor Vasily Sharapov dies aged 100
A century for the benefit of Minsk. Former chairman of the Minsk city executive committee Vasily Sharapov died aged 100.
A few months ago, the leadership of the city, former colleagues and associates congratulated Vasily Sharapov on his hundredth anniversary.
He was a bright, energetic and very friendly person. His name is forever inscribed in the history of the Belarusian capital. He was Minsk mayor for over 13 years and had to restore the destroyed city after WWII.
Transport Ministry ready to assist low cost airlines in Belarus
There are no obstacles to the work of low cost airlines in Belarus and the Ministry of Transport is ready to contribute to their arrival, said Minister of Transport and Communications Anatoly Sivak March 6 at a press conference in Minsk.
"We have no reasons today not to welcome low costs. This is rather a problem of low cost companies, that they decide whether or not to fly to a particular destination for economic reasons," said the Minister.
According to him, for low cost flights to be effective, corresponding passenger traffic should be secured.
Paternity leave for Belarusian fathers
Belarusian fathers can be discharged from work with the right to take paternity leave. Such amendments are planned to be made to the Labour Code of the Republic of Belarus. An interdepartmental working group is looking into the issue of compulsory paternity leave. Therefore, men will obtain a lawful right to take care of their newborn children together with mothers.
Today every family can decide on who is going to look after the baby. However, in 99% of the cases it is mothers who take the responsibility to look after children.
Cultural heritage of Fransysk Skoryna to be gathered in one edition
The entire heritage of Francysk Skoryna (was a Belarusian humanist, physician, translator and one of the first book printers in Eastern Europe) will be gathered in one edition. The personnel of the National Library of the Republic of Belarus together with their colleagues from world museums and archives are working on a big project. The aim of this project is not only to preserve the historical memory, but to show how deep the influence of the Belarusian first printer on the culture of those days was.
Belarus to make first national horror movie
A couple of independent Belarusian producers decided to unite their strengths and make a Belarusian youth-orientated horror film “Upyri” (“Ghouls”).
The start-up company “Nashe Kino” will take up the responsibility for making the movie. Clip maker Maks Siriy was chosen the director of the project. He will also write the script for the film together with the producers Sergey Yakubovskiy and Andrey Kureichik.
