April 22 turned into a nationwide voluntary Saturday working day! Soon, the tradition of working outside hours will be about 100 years old. The CTV Channel did not remain aloof from the Voluntary Working Day campaign which is traditionally held in Belarus at the end of April. My colleagues worked at the Republican Children's Rehabilitation Center in Minsk.
Television presenters, film directors, and journalists took rakes and shovels to help beautify the surroundings.

History of Minsk cinemas

Belarusian doctors have successfully mastered a new technique of heart surgery for kids. The novelty is in using allopericardium – a donor’s biological material in cryopreserved condition. Simply put, it’s a frozen heart tissue.
This method is unique and it hasn’t been described in scientific literature earlier. Thanks to this method 20 Belarusians have already received medical treatment. The youngest patient is one year old. The technique can be used for surgical treatment of all types of congenital heart defects.

Belarus destroys last anti-personnel mines under Ottawa Treaty
Belarus has fulfilled its obligations under the Ottawa Treaty. One of the points of the agreement is to destroy anti-personnel mines. On April 5, the last samples of PFM-1 were destroyed in the Gomel region.
These mines were used extensively in the second half of the 20th century: by Americans in Vietnam and by the Soviet troops in Afghanistan. Cassettes with mines were dropped from aircraft or delivered by rockets. Children often took mines for toys because of their plastic coating. The victims of these weapons often remained disabled.

Minsk police is checking information on the fact of illegal use of the trademark BELSAT. At the beginning of March, the Pervomaiskoye police department of Minsk received a statement from its legal owner, a citizen of Belarus, about the systematic violation of his exclusive rights to this intellectual property.

Belarus said farewell to the People's Artist of Belarus Mai Dantsig.
He was one of the brightest representatives of Belarusian art over the last 50 years.
Mai Dantig was referred to as maestro of austere style. He does not only have landscapes in his collection, but there are portraits of Vasil Bykov, Ales Adamovich and other famous Belarusians as well.
He died aged 86 and left a whole era of Belarusian art behind him.
