30,000 partake in Minsk Half Marathon on City Day On September 10, more than 30,000 fans of a healthy lifestyle took part in the largest race in the history of Belarus. According to the tradition, the marathon on the main streets of the capital started at the Palace of Sports. The main distance is 21 km and 100 meters. However, everyone could also choose 10 or 5.5-kilometre track according to their capabilities. The majority of the participants are amateurs. The 2017 edition of the marathon is the third consecutive one.

Minsk City Day celebrations to start on September 7 From scientific meetings to spectacular shows: the main festive events dedicated to the 950th anniversary of the Belarusian capital are about to begin in Minsk. On September 7, the forum "Minsk and Minsk citizens. 10 centuries of history" will take place in the City Hall. It will bring together more than a hundred researchers, including from Russia, Ukraine and Poland. Experts will discuss different time periods of the city, as well as its tourist potential.

Nikolai Lukashenko partakes in charity run to support seriously ill children A charity run was held in Ostroshitsky Gorodok. A couple of hundred of participants, including the youngest son of the President Nikolai Lukashenko, he run the distance to support seriously ill children. This charity campaign is held all over the country. The participants of it must run 100 thousand kilometers. If Belarusians reach the target distance, the organizers of the campaign will transfer money to the State Institution “Republican Children Hospital for Medical Rehabilitation” for every meter the participants overcome.

Runner Volha Mazuronak first to register for Minsk Half Marathon 2017 Volha Mazuronak became the first participant of the Minsk Half Marathon 2017. Registration for the main sports race of the year opened April 13.  Two-time winner of the event, Mazuronak received the first bib number. The marathon organizers expect that about 30,000 people will partake in the September 10 race.  Traditionally, a choice of three distances will be offered: 5.5, 10 and 22km. The prize fund of the half-marathon will be at least $25,000. The route will not change compared to the 2016 marathon.

Minsk Half Marathon 2016: Runner Olga Mazurenok sets new record Results of the women's part of the September 4 Minsk Half Marathon have become known. Participant of several Olympiads Olga Mazurenok was the first to finish, with a new record of the track. The athlete run a distance of more than 21 kilometers in 1 hour 11 minutes and 44 seconds. Silver went to runner Nina Savina. Bronze medal was won by an athlete from Kenya.

Rhythmic gymnastics and marathon: Belarus’ hopes for medals On August, 21, during the last day of the 2016 Rio Olympics, athletes will compete for 12 sets of medals. Belarus has real chances of becoming a medalist in group competition in rhythmic gymnastics. In addition, two Belarusian runners will compete for medals on marathon. Belarus won 9 medals at the Olympics and it occupies the 40th place in the medal count. The official closing ceremony of the 2016 Olympic Games will take place tonight at the Maracanã Stadium in Rio.

Belarus' Mazuronak becomes best European at Olympic marathon The Belarusian athlete Volha Mazuronak has become 5th in the marathon at the Olympics 2016. Mazuronak clocked 2 hours 24 min. 48 sec. at a distance of 42.195 km. The Belarusian presented a surprise to eminent African rivals during the competition.  Exactly in the middle of the race she broke into the lead. It was Mazuronak who lead the race for a long time setting its rhythm. Alas, during the last kilometers the Belarusian was pushed from podium places but she had the strength to get into the top 5.

Dunin-Marcinkiewicz and Moniuszko monument to appear near Minsk City Hall Another gift for the residents of Minsk. A monument to famous cultural figures - playwright Vincent Dunin-Marcinkiewicz and composer Stanislaw Moniuszko - will be installed near Minsk's Town Hall. Made in full growth and cast in bronze, the sculpture will take place among city dwellers in the cultural center of Minsk of the XIX century. The work has already been cast. Pre-installation works are being finalized.

Olga Mazurenok, Maxim Nesterenko hold master class for Minsk half marathon participants Belarusian runner Olga Mazurenok will perform at the Games in Rio on 14 August. It is when the marathon will be held. Preparation for the main start of the four years is going as planned. Moreover, Olga, along with her teammate, triple jumper Maxim Nesterenko, found the time to hold a master class for future participants of the Minsk half marathon, which is traditionally held in September.

Minsk half marathon 2016 due on September 4 Belarus' Minister of Sport Alexander Shamko has become the first registered member of the Minsk Half Marathon 2016. He plans to run 5km, media report. According to the chairman of the Belarusian Athletics Federation Vadim Devyatovskiy, Minsk Half Marathon will take place on September 4, beginning at 11.00. Everyone will be able to register for marathons at a distance of 5km, 10km and 21km. Organizers expect 20 thousand running enthusiasts.

The CTV staff, including my colleague Christina also ran on Sunday but only five kilometers.  She says the whole body hurts today! How are you feeling? Olga Mazurenok: I have some fatigue but this is due to some slopes on the track. But in principle I feel quite good. This year, the race gathered so many people! Tell us how you ran.

CTV channel takes part in Minsk Half Marathon The center of Minsk on September 13 was given entirely to sports fans. Minsk hosted today the largest half-marathon in its history. Everyone could choose a distance to their liking but the main track - 21.1 km long - ran through the main avenue of Minsk. More than 16,000 runners and professional athletes started near the Sports Palace. Among them were representatives of the CTV channel.

Minsk hosting 16,099-strong half marathon September 13 The center of Minsk on September 13 was given entirely to sports fans. Minsk hosted today the largest half-marathon in its history. Everyone could choose a distance but the longest one - 21 kilometers and 100 meters - ran across the main avenues of Minsk. The track was officially certified by the International Association of Athletics Federation. The starting point was located near the Sports Palace. In addition to half-marathon an athletics and corporate marathons took place. CTV presenters also ran 5 km.

Minsk to host Polo Marathon on city day September 13 People running on the central streets of Minsk no more surprise anyone. Belarusians more and more get accustomed to a healthy lifestyle. On August 6, the center of the capital for a few hours turned into a running track. On Thursday, anyone could try the unique route of Minsk Polo Marathon. The distance was more than 6 kilometers and passed through the main streets of Minsk. Minsk Half Marathon is a young event. For the first time, the competition was held on City Day in 2013.

Belarusian wins California International Marathon in Sacramento Belarusian runner Olga Mazurenok won the 32nd California International Marathon that took place in Sacramento. The Belarusian clocked 2:27.33 to set her new personal record. Olga outpaced Jane Kibii of Kenya, who was second, almost five minutes behind the winner. Kristen Zaitz of the United States finished in third, with 2:32.48.  In summer 2012 Olga Mazurenok won a victory at the 23rd Siberian International Marathon in Omsk. Back then, she clocked 2:44.47.
