FC BATE lift Belarus Super Cup for sixth time In the Super Cup of Belarus, FC BATE Borisov beat Soligorsk Shakhtyor 2:1 and lifted the trophy for the sixth time. Interestingly, these same teams battled for the first trophy of the season in 2015. Then, the winner was decided in a penalty shootout and the reliable game of Sergei Chernik brought the Borisov club the trophy. BATE struck first on 23 minutes but the ref disallowed the goal saying Rodionov was offside.

Belarus supports Infantino in FIFA presidential election The Belarusian Football Federation (ABFF) will support the candidature of the FIFA general secretary Gianni Infantino in the upcoming FIFA presidential election, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Sergei Safaryan told media. Mr Safaryan noted that since the beginning of the scandalous events, with the removal of the heads of FIFA and UEFA Belarus supported Michel Platini, but after the Frenchman was forced to withdraw his candidacy, the country decided to vote in favor of Infantino, who has already presented his program.

Belarus 2nd at Development Cup 2016 Footballers of Team Belarus U18 took second place at the Development Cup 2016, which ended at Minsk's Futbolnyi Manezh Arena. In the decisive match for the grand prize coach Roman Kirenkin's charges lost to Ukraine 1:3. The only goal for Belarus came after the shot of Pavel Sadovsky, on 20 minutes, when Ukrainians were already 2:0 up. This is the third success of the Ukrainian U18 team at the Development Cup, which is usually held in Minsk. Before that, they won the trophy in 2009 and 2012.

FC Dinamo Minsk through to 2015/16 Europa League group stage after penalty shootout drama in Salzburg FC Dinamo Minsk for the second year in a row won a ticket to the group stage of the Europa League. In the decisive second leg of the qualification round Minskers lost to Austrian Salzburg 0-2 but thanks to 2-0 win against the Austrians a week ago in Brest they took the game into penalty shootout and won. The hosts did not stop attacks and if it had not been for the goalkeeper Alexander Gutor the Minsk side would have coped with the task of scoring twice and even more. But sometimes the Dinamo keeper rescued the team in almost hopeless situations.

Europa League playoff 1st leg FC Dinamo Minsk are one foot in Europa League group stage after beating FC Red Bull Salzburg 2-0 at home in Brest in the first leg of the Europa League playoff. On 57 minutes, Gleb Rassadkin opened the scoring. In the second half he had a very good chance to make a double but narrowly missed in a one-on-one chance. However, Dinamo doubled the lead a few minutes after that chance. Nenad Adamovic was closest to the loose ball, which bounced off the Salzburg goal's post and tapped it in for a 2-0 scoreline.

FC BATE snatch narrow win versus Partizan in Champions League playoff FC BATE Borisov defeated on August 18 Serbian Partizan at Borisov Arena in the first leg of the decisive round of the Champions League qualification. Mikhail Gordeichuk scored the only goal 75 minutes into the game with a neat header from Igor Stasevich's corner. Partizan were reduced to ten men after Marko Jevtović received his second yellow card in the 45th minute of the first half and were unable to pose significant threat to BATE in the second half.

Dinamo Minsk to take on FC Red Bull Salzburg in Europa League qualification playoff FC Dinamo Minsk of Belarus will face FC Red Bull Salzburg in the Europa League qualification play-off. The games will take place on 20 and 27 August. Dinamo play the first leg at home. Dinamo started the Europa League qualification from the 2nd round and yesterday went past Zurich of Switzerland after the 1-1 draw in extra time (Dinamo won first leg away 1-0). Red Bull Salzburg were eliminated by Swedish Malmo in the Champions League 3rd qualifying round.

BATE were the seeded side and thus may be considered favorites in the pair. BATE progressed to the Champions League group stage four times and are eager to complete their fifth attempt successfully. FC Dinamo Minsk battle past Zurich into Europa League playoff After the away victory over Zurich 1:0 FC Dinamo Minsk snatched a home draw 1:1 and progressed to the Europa League qualification playoff, which is the last round before the group stage. The Minsk club conceded in the fourth minute of the match when a fast attack resulted in a goal by Amin Chermiti. After that Dinamo took initiative in their hands and began to gradually increase pressure on Zurich defense. The most dangerous moment came at the end of the first half when Roman Begunov failed to use Vladimir Korytko's great pass.

Belarus' BATE progress to Champions League qualification playoff Nemanja Nikolic, who joined FC BATE Borisov this year from FC Dinamo Minsk, scored the only goal of the Champions Leauge third qualifying round second leg tie against Hungary's Videoton in the 82nd minute. He was fed from the right corner of the penalty area by Maksim Zhavnerchik, one of the best on the pitch on August 5 night. By that time Videoton were playing 20 minutes without Dutch Kees Luyckx, who had been sent off for two yellow cards.

Dinamo Minsk through to Europa League 3rd qualifying round FC Dinamo Minsk have entered the 3rd round of the 2015/16 Europa League qualification after defeating Cherno More 5-1 on aggregate. In today's return leg, the Minsk club won 4-0 at home. Korytko scored with a brilliant shot a free kick at the end of the first half. Cherno More were reduced to 10 men late into the first half. After 58 minutes, Nenad Adamovic fired a short from distance that flew into the top corner of the net. Fatos Bećiraj added a third and fourth on 86 and 90+2 minutes.

Shakhtyor have to score at least twice and concede no more than once to get through. The Austrians were not allowed to play on home turf since their staduim has a lot of standing places, which is against the tournament's rules. Hypo-Arena will host the game instead, a super modern stadium, which by the way hosted a couple of EURO 2008 matches.

Shakhtyor Soligorsk succumb to 0-1 home defeat against Wolfsberger Belarusian clubs July 16 started in the second qualifying round of the Europa League. Salihorsk's Shakhter lost the home game against Wolfsberger AC 0-1.  Shakhter managed to get together and organize a good attack only on 15 minutes but Kovalev's powerful strike went wide. Both teams were cautious, knowing the price of mistakes. By the middle of the first half the game equalized but the home team lacked attacking moves.

Dinamo Minsk did not have the best of matches in Bulgaria's Varna but managed to achieve an acceptable outcome. The hosts attacked for the most of the match but scored only once. After 11 minutes, Mathias Coureur dealt with Politevich and Edigaryan in the penalty area and beat Gutor.

Dinamo Minsk to face Cherno More in Europa League 2nd round qualifier On July 15 in the morning, the delegation of FC Dinamo Minsk flew to Bulgaria for the season's first Europa League match. The team will face Cherno More from Varna in the first leg of the second qualifying round.  Cherno More Varna is a rather modest club who took 8th place in the Bulgarian championship last season but made a historic achievement winning the Bulgarian Cup after ousting Slavia Sofia, Lokomotiv Plovdiv and Levski Sofia.

Belarusian midfielder Anton Putsila moves to Turkey's Gaziantepspor The Turkish football club Gaziantepspor on July 14 announced the signing of a two-year contract with 28-year-old Belarusian midfielder Anton Putsila. The player was earlier contracted to Torpedo Moscow where he scored four goals and became the team's top scorer. The capital's club took penultimate place and dropped out of the Premier League of the Russian Championship. Gaziantepspor finished in 10th place in the championship of Turkey, gaining as many points as Genclerbirligi where another Belarusian midfielder Alexander Hleb played half of last season.

Zhodino's Torpedo-BelAZ and Shakhter Soligorsk held the opening matches of the 1st qualifying round of the Europa League. Both Belarusian representatives played their games away. Igor Kriushenko's Torpedo Zhodino owned initiative and created some dangerous moments, but their accuracy was not enough. Denis Laptev made an international debut against Russia. The FC Slavia Mozyr striker is the top scorer in the Belarusian championship now. Also in the team is Ivan Mayevsky, who is currently considered to be one of the best midfielders of the Polish championship.

BATE lift Belarusian Super Cup again The first trophy of the football season was won by FC BATE Borisov. The Belarusian Super Cup was contested in Belarus' town of Pinsk. Ninety minutes was not enough for BATE and Shakhtyor to score - 0-0.  In the penalty shootout, BATE prevailed, largely thanks to the three saves of their goalie Sergei Chernik. Last year, BATE also won the Super Cup ousting FC Minsk 1-0 thanks to Mladenovic's 19th-minute shot.

On January 25, in the match for bronze, coach Igor Kovalevich's charges defeated Turkmenistan 4:0 (1:0).    Like a year ago, Igor Kovalevich's team won bronze medals. Belarus to compete for places from 4th to 6th at 2015 Development Cup After the group round of the 2015 Development Cup, three teams in group A have five points each (Belarus, Moldova, Czech Republic) and only China have zero points. Development Cup 2015 kicks off in Minsk On January 18, the traditional international tournament Development Cup 2015 kicked off at the Futbolnyi Manezh arena. The competition in Minsk gathered football talents from 12 countries. Sergei Krivets named Player of the Year in Belarus UEFA official website named FC Metz midfielder Sergei Krivets the best player of the season in Belarus. Belarus' Player of the Year 2014 announced Sergei Krivets has been voted the best player of Belarus of 2014. The midfielder, who is now playing for France's Metz, earlier spent football years in BATE (Belarus) and played in Poland and China. The traditional ceremony Golden Ball was held in Minsk to summarize the outcome of the football year in Belarus.  However, Sergei has been unable to attend the ceremony since France's Ligue 1 is currently underway.

FC Dinamo Minsk fans banned from matches in Italy for 5 years 47 fans of Dinamo Minsk have been banned from visiting matches in Italy for a period of 5 years. As practice shows, it means a ban on entry to the Schengen area. "According to our information, 47 people were detained for identification and 14 people were arrested. All fans are young people aged 22 - 27," Belarus Foreign Ministry spokesman Dmitry Mironchik said. The ministry also said that 47 people, who were detained, have received a 5-year ban on visiting football matches in Italy.

BATE finish European campaign with 0-2 loss to Athletic On December 10, Alexander Yermakovich's BATE finished their European football campaign after a Champions League defeat at Spain's Athletic 0-2. Home victory over the Basques allowed BATE to progress to the Europa League playoff but the Borisov club failed to win. Rules concerning international footballers change in Belarus Members of the executive committee of the Association "Belarusian Football Federation" (ABFF) voted for a proposal to reduce the number of foreign footballers who can play on the pitch at the same time. Members of the executive committee voted to reduce from five to four the number of international players that can simultaneously play for a team in the matches of the Belarusian Premier League.  The concept "international player" was changed, too.
