Belarus lose hope to qualify for UEFA Euro 2016 After losing to Ukraine in Lviv in the September 5 UEFA Euro 2016 qualifier, Belarus lost even a theoretical chance of progressing to EURO finals from third place in Group C. Belarus went down to Ukraine 1-3 at Arena Lviv in front of 32,548 spectators. Belarus were defeated by Ukraine because of serious problems in defense, which resulted in three goals in the first half.

In the decisive second leg of the qualification round Minskers lost to Austrian Salzburg 0-2 but thanks to 2-0 win against the Austrians a week ago in Brest they took the game into penalty shootout and won. The hosts did not stop attacks and if it had not been for the goalkeeper Alexander Gutor the Minsk side would have coped with the task of scoring twice and even more. But sometimes the Dinamo keeper rescued the team in almost hopeless situations.

Partizan were reduced to ten men after Marko Jevtović received his second yellow card in the 45th minute of the first half and were unable to pose significant threat to BATE in the second half.

The games will take place on 20 and 27 August. Dinamo play the first leg at home. Dinamo started the Europa League qualification from the 2nd round and yesterday went past Zurich of Switzerland after the 1-1 draw in extra time (Dinamo won first leg away 1-0). Red Bull Salzburg were eliminated by Swedish Malmo in the Champions League 3rd qualifying round.

FC Dinamo Minsk battle past Zurich into Europa League playoff After the away victory over Zurich 1:0 FC Dinamo Minsk snatched a home draw 1:1 and progressed to the Europa League qualification playoff, which is the last round before the group stage. The Minsk club conceded in the fourth minute of the match when a fast attack resulted in a goal by Amin Chermiti. After that Dinamo took initiative in their hands and began to gradually increase pressure on Zurich defense. The most dangerous moment came at the end of the first half when Roman Begunov failed to use Vladimir Korytko's great pass.


Belarus' BATE progress to Champions League qualification playoff Nemanja Nikolic, who joined FC BATE Borisov this year from FC Dinamo Minsk, scored the only goal of the Champions Leauge third qualifying round second leg tie against Hungary's Videoton in the 82nd minute. He was fed from the right corner of the penalty area by Maksim Zhavnerchik, one of the best on the pitch on August 5 night. By that time Videoton were playing 20 minutes without Dutch Kees Luyckx, who had been sent off for two yellow cards.

Shakhtyor have to score at least twice and concede no more than once to get through. The Austrians were not allowed to play on home turf since their staduim has a lot of standing places, which is against the tournament's rules. FC Dinamo Minsk pull off 1-1 draw in Europa League qualifier vs Cherno More Belarusian clubs July 16 started in the second qualifying round of the Europa League. Dinamo Minsk were more convincing in the away game against Varna's Cherno More, which ended 1-1. Dinamo Minsk did not have the best of matches in Bulgaria's Varna but managed to achieve an acceptable outcome. The hosts attacked for the most of the match but scored only once. After 11 minutes, Mathias Coureur dealt with Politevich and Edigaryan in the penalty area and beat Gutor. 


Dinamo Minsk to face Cherno More in Europa League 2nd round qualifier On July 15 in the morning, the delegation of FC Dinamo Minsk flew to Bulgaria for the season's first Europa League match. The team will face Cherno More from Varna in the first leg of the second qualifying round.  Cherno More Varna is a rather modest club who took 8th place in the Bulgarian championship last season but made a historic achievement winning the Bulgarian Cup after ousting Slavia Sofia, Lokomotiv Plovdiv and Levski Sofia.

Belarusian midfielder Anton Putsila moves to Turkey's Gaziantepspor The Turkish football club Gaziantepspor on July 14 announced the signing of a two-year contract with 28-year-old Belarusian midfielder Anton Putsila. The player was earlier contracted to Torpedo Moscow where he scored four goals and became the team's top scorer. The capital's club took penultimate place and dropped out of the Premier League of the Russian Championship. Gaziantepspor finished in 10th place in the championship of Turkey, gaining as many points as Genclerbirligi where another Belarusian midfielder Alexander Hleb played half of last season.

Belarus continues preparation for Euro 2016 qualifier against Spain The Belarusian national football team continues to prepare for the Euro 2016 qualifier against European champions Spain.  After Sunday's defeat at the hands of Russia 2:4 coach Alexander Khatskevich’s side conducted the first training session. Denis Laptev made an international debut against Russia. The FC Slavia Mozyr striker is the top scorer in the Belarusian championship now. Also in the team is Ivan Mayevsky, who is currently considered to be one of the best midfielders of the Polish championship.

BATE lift Belarusian Super Cup again The first trophy of the football season was won by FC BATE Borisov. Belarus U21 finds out Euro 2017 qualifying opponents The Belarus U21, who have recently returned from the Commonwealth Cup with bronze medals, are getting ready for new challenges. On February 5, Switzerland's Nyon hosted a draw for the Euro 2017 qualifying.  Belarus will face the Netherlands, Slovakia, Turkey and Cyprus in their group. Manager Igor Kovalevich's charges will hold their first game on September 6 at home against Slovakia.


Belarus U21 third in Commonwealth Cup Belarus U21 took third place in the Commonwealth Cup held in St. Petersburg. Development Cup 2015 kicks off in Minsk On January 18, the traditional international tournament Development Cup 2015 kicked off at the Futbolnyi Manezh arena. The competition in Minsk gathered football talents from 12 countries. In the first match, Belarus drew against Finland 2-2. In the other match of Group A, China were hammered 0-10 by the Czech Republic. At the preliminary stage, participants were divided into 3 groups, each containing four sides. Only the group winners will enter the playoff.


UEFA president to visit Minsk in January From 18 to 25 January, Association "Belarusian Football Federation" (ABFF), with the support of the Minsk City Executive Committee and OAO Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus holds the 11th international U17 tournament Development Cup 2015. Belarus' Player of the Year 2014 announced Sergei Krivets has been voted the best player of Belarus of 2014. The midfielder, who is now playing for France's Metz, earlier spent football years in BATE (Belarus) and played in Poland and China. The traditional ceremony Golden Ball was held in Minsk to summarize the outcome of the football year in Belarus.  However, Sergei has been unable to attend the ceremony since France's Ligue 1 is currently underway.


FC Dinamo Minsk fans banned from matches in Italy for 5 years 47 fans of Dinamo Minsk have been banned from visiting matches in Italy for a period of 5 years. As practice shows, it means a ban on entry to the Schengen area. "According to our information, 47 people were detained for identification and 14 people were arrested. All fans are young people aged 22 - 27," Belarus Foreign Ministry spokesman Dmitry Mironchik said. The ministry also said that 47 people, who were detained, have received a 5-year ban on visiting football matches in Italy.


BATE finish European campaign with 0-2 loss to Athletic On December 10, Alexander Yermakovich's BATE finished their European football campaign after a Champions League defeat at Spain's Athletic 0-2. Home victory over the Basques allowed BATE to progress to the Europa League playoff but the Borisov club failed to win. In the first half, Athletic dominated in all areas, while BATE managed to make only one attempt on goal. However, at the beginning of the second half, the Spanish side broke the deadlock.


Rules concerning international footballers change in Belarus Members of the executive committee of the Association "Belarusian Football Federation" (ABFF) voted for a proposal to reduce the number of foreign footballers who can play on the pitch at the same time. Members of the executive committee voted to reduce from five to four the number of international players that can simultaneously play for a team in the matches of the Belarusian Premier League.  The concept "international player" was changed, too.
