Maslenitsa (an Eastern Slavic religious and folk holiday during the last week before Great Lent) was celebrated in the Belarusian Residence of Ded Moroz (a Slavic fictional character similar to Father Christmas).
Fairy-tale characters left Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park for the South Pole.
Ded Moroz’s wife and three daughters Stuzha, Vyuga and Metelitsa have planned a real journey to the Antartic.

Folk festivals have been held all over Belarus. The ground before Minsk Sports Palace was the centre of this year’s feast.

Festival January Music Nights finishes in Brest

International Film Festival Listapad-2016 opens in Minsk under slogan “Towards inspiration”
The main cinematographic even of the year, the International Film Festival Listapad opens in Belarus on November 4.
“Towards inspiration” is the slogan of the festival. Directors, actors, screen players from France, Germany, Latvia, Estonia, Spain, Canada, the Czech Republic are gathering in Minsk. Representatives of 45 countries will take part in the festival.
Film Festival Listapad to kick off in Minsk November 4
160 movies from 45 countries will take part in the 23rd International Film Festival Listapad that will open in Minsk November 4. Japanese, Philippine and Malaysian films will be screened for the first time. The most famous directors, actors, producers and film critics from all over the world will come to Minsk. The opening ceremony will be held at Moskva Cinema.
The red carpet, spotlights, sound, video equipment and light are being prepared for the festival.
Film festival Listapad 2016: 160 films from 45 countries in Minsk
The XXIII Minsk International Film Festival Listapad will soon open in Belarus. On October 20 the organizers revealed some details of the forthcoming event.

TeArt theater festival kicks off in Minsk on September 28
The brilliant play of actors and directors' most high-profile works. The 6th International Forum of Theatrical Art TeArt starts in Minsk on 28 September.
The forum will open with the Belarusian premiere - From the Life of Insects.
It will be a special musical performance in which actors will present 14 small tragedies of insect life in the human world and human life among insects.
Minsk closes motorcycle season with big motorbike parade
The main characters in the streets of Minsk today are motorcyclists. Thousands of motorcycle fans on choppers and other fashionable bikes came to Belarus. These motorcycles are not, unfortunately, produced in Belarus. Pronebo air sports festival takes place at Borovaya airfield
The second Belarusian helicopter race and an attempt to set a national parachuting record - all this is the festival of air sport Pronebo (#пронебо) that took place at the Borovaya airfield near Minsk.
Thirteen helicopter teams, nearly 30 parachutists and an unforgettable air show was performed by DOSAAF pilots and military aviation. Teams from Belarus, Russia, the Czech Republic and Ukraine took part.
Brest celebrates city birthday with unique carnival
Brest turned 997 this week! Brest residents in a big way celebrated the birthday of their city with a carnival, the only one in Belarus. Brest is not only one of the oldest settlements of Belarus, but also the gateway to Europe and at the same time gateway to Eurasia.

2nd Air Sports Festival due at Borovaya airfield July 30-31
The second Festival of Air Sports will be held July 30-31 at the airport Borovaya (Minsk region).

More than thirty of the best Belarusian paratroopers are preparing to establish a national record and gather in free fall a figure that should break the record of 2014 - 20 people. The speed of the fall is over 200 km/h.
Over 600 people accredited for Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk
The accreditation service of the Slavonic Bazaar in Vitebsk has already issued more than 600 badges for festival participants.
The first were the employees of technical services, representatives of the media and some creative teams.
First national delegations have already arrived in the city of legendary Marc Chagall.
The main influx of visitors is expected July 14, which is the official opening day of the festival.
President Lukashenko: Alexandria festival can make peoples friends
The Kupalle festival in Alexandria could become Belarus' contribution to the strengthening of friendship between peoples, said President Alexander Lukashenko, speaking on the eve of the Kupalle festival in Shklov District.
Mass celebrations on the banks of the Dnieper continued deep into the night of July 10-11. It offered traditional Kupala games and fun activities.

Alexandria Gathers Friends festival due in Shklov district July 9-10

Bialowieza Forest hosts first horn music international festival
Unusual sounds were heard in the Bialowieza Forest on May 14. The oldest forest of Europe hosted the first international festival of horn music and songs.
Since the 15th century, no hunting took place without these sounds. There are about a hundred of different signals - from "Gathering of shooters" to "greetings". With the help of horn music Belarusian ancestors paid honors to dead animals.
International festival of Slavic martial arts held in Grodno
Melee and jousting tournaments according to medieval rules. Grodno hosted an international festival of Slavic martial arts. The local Mound of Game has become an arena of knights tournaments.
Medieval battles were re-enacted here with historical accuracy, be it a melee or a sword tournament. Moreover, in addition to traditional swords, axes and crossbows warriors used the most peaceful implements in the battles.
Participants from South America and mass performance expected at Slavonic Bazaar 2016
Argentinian and Colombian vocalists will perform at Slavonic Bazaar. There will be 28 participating countries instead of last year’s 24.
The organizers have shared intriguing details. A traditional buying fever is expected. As many as 16,000 tickets have been bought already and even more booked. People from Japan, Cyprus, the United Arab Emirates and many other countries will come to Slavonic Bazaar in Belarus.
Motorcycle season opens in Minsk with large-scale biker rally
About 1,500 bikers from Belarus, Russia, the Baltic and Western European countries gathered in Minsk April 23. This is not the first time a motorcycle rally has been held in the Belarus capital. Bikers love Belarus and continue to come here! Maxim Slizh reports.

Belarus may cancel visa fees for tourists coming to festivals
Belarus plans to introduce free visas for tourists who come to festivals, said Alexander Shamko, Minister of Sport and Tourism, at the opening of the international fair of tourist services Holiday 2016 in Minsk.
Belarus has already introduced a similar practice for participants of sporting events. They can get a Belarusian visa free of charge in 5-7 minutes at the airport.
Belarusian culture should be promoted abroad, culture minister says

300 artists and 16 nations at January Music Nights festival in Brest
More than 300 artists from 16 countries have gathered in Brest for the international festival "January Music Nights". It is carried out for the 28th time.
The classical marathon was opened by world-class stars: the first flute of the opera houses in Milan and Rome Antonio Amenduni and choir Cantatrix from the Netherlands.

Listapad Film Festival 2015 due in Minsk in early November
About 200 films from 60 countries, famous directors and distinguished celebrities will meet both on a silver screen and in the Moskva cinema hall. The solemn opening ceremony of the 22nd Minsk International Film Festival (MIFF) will be held on November 6. The tickets are on sale.

Animaevka festival opens in Mogilev September 9
Weather is not an obstacle to good and loud events in Mogilev. September 9 is the opening day of the International Festival Animation Pictures.
Taking part in Animayovka are Australia, Greece, Israel, Mexico, Romania, South Korea and Japan. All in all, applications for the festival were received from 40 countries.

Honey Festival kicks off in Polotsk August 14
Polotsk on August 14 begins to host a honey festival. 10 candidates will fight for the title of the best beekeeper.
Visitors of the holiday will get bouquets of flowers and honey plants and take part in workshops on the collection of hives and other entertainment activities.
