Belarus takes 7th place at IBU World Championship Biathlon 2017 The Biathlon World Championships in the Austrian Hochfilzen came to an end. On the last competition day, biathletes were competing in women’s and men’s mass starts.  The German biathlete Laura Dahlmeier won a gold medal once again. The Belarusian biathlete Nadezhda Skardino became 16th and Darya Domracheva 19th. The gold medal in the men’s mass start went to Simon Schempp. Belarusian biathletes didn’t take part in this race. In the World Championships medal table, the German team got 1st place with 7 gold medals from the 11 possible.

Belarusian Darya Domracheva won her second race in as many days. Yesterday she triumphed in the mega mass start finishing 20 seconds ahead of Daria Virolainen from Russia. This time she stopped the clock after 15:59.2.  Another Nadezhda Skardino was only 5.5 seconds slower. Italian Karin Oberhofer came in third to scoop bronze.

This is the first Big Crystal Globe in the career of the three-time Olympic champion. On Sunday, March 8, two pursuit races took place but they did not bring any medals to Belarusians. For now, Belarus has not won any medals. Earlier, Domracheva took first place in the sprint, and the previous World Cup in Ruhpolding, Germany, was won by the three-time Olympic champion in the mass start. Darya's main rival Kaisa Mäkäräinen from Finland came third. Thus, the Belarusian is now 40 points behind the overall leader.

Belarus' Domracheva wins mass start at World Cup Oberhof Belarusian biathlete Darya Domracheva, with 4 misses (2 + 1 + 0 + 1), won the mass start at the World Cup Biathlon in Oberhof, Germany. The race started for the triple Olympic champion not the best way: after the first shooting range, Domracheva took only 23rd place, 48 seconds behind the leader.  After the second stage, the leader of the Belarusian biathlon team turned everything upside down with an impressive performance.

Belarus third in Oberhof relay The Czech Republic won the women's biathlon relay at the Biathlon World Cup in Oberhof, Germany. The Czechs were 9 seconds ahead of France. The Belarusian team put up a spectacular performance. Stable Nadezhda Skardino did not miss once and was fourth at the first stage, 8 seconds behind. Anastasia Duborezova completed her stage in sixth place with a minute gap from the first place. Nadezhda Pisareva passed the first half of the race well but was not so successful in the second shooting and had to go for one penalty loop.

Darya Domracheva named Europe's best sportswoman The Belarusian biathlete Darya Domracheva has been named the best sportswoman of Europe in 2014 following the results of a survey conducted for the 32nd time by the continental section of the International Sports Press Association. At the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Domracheva won three gold medals. After the Games, she was honored the title of the Hero of Belarus.

Domracheva second to none in women's pursuit at World Cup Another big win Belarus and new success of Darya Domracheva. On December 20, Domracheva won the women's 10K pursuit at the World Cup in Slovenia's Pokljuka. Darya came to the finish line 10 seconds ahead of her main rival - Kaisa Mäkäräinen of Finland. Domracheva missed only once during the race. Belarus' Nadezhda Skardino, who took 6th place in the end, showed a clean shooting.  President Alexander Lukashenko congratulated Domracheva on such a brilliant victory.

Domracheva voted Sportswoman of the Year in Belarus The newspaper Sportivnaya Panorama has summed up the traditional voting to determine the winners of the sports year in Belarus. The poll among sports journalists from print and electronic media has been held for the 56th time. Some 106 respondents voted for the best athletes of the year, the best coach and the two teams (in playing and non-playing sports).  Three-time Sochi Olympic champion Darya Domracheva became the best. She was 181 points ahead of the nearest competitor.
