Belarus to make first national horror movie
A couple of independent Belarusian producers decided to unite their strengths and make a Belarusian youth-orientated horror film “Upyri” (“Ghouls”).
The start-up company “Nashe Kino” will take up the responsibility for making the movie. Clip maker Maks Siriy was chosen the director of the project. He will also write the script for the film together with the producers Sergey Yakubovskiy and Andrey Kureichik.
Pobeda cinema in Minsk closes for renovation. What will new building be like?
The legendary building of the cinema Pobeda has closed for renovation. This cinema was built in the middle of the 20th century. In addition, because the building is an architectural monument, the style will be preserved. Nevertheless, a technical part will match the requirements of the XXI century.
The cinema Pobeda is the oldest in Minsk. From 1 January 2017, renovations began here.
Movie "Belarus. Country for life" wins at Eurasian International Festival in Kazakhstan
The promo video "Belarus. Country for life" has received worldwide recognition.
The mini movie that boasts soulful story and colorful characters and emphasizes the achievements of Belarusians became the winner of the Eurasian International Festival in Kazakhstan.
The movie praises the beauty and greatness of Belarusian nature, splendor of architecture and the country's achievements in various fields.
The movie took six weeks to make. The same time was spent to select the actors.
Hollywood actor Dolph Lundgren comes to Belarus
World famous American actor, film director, screenwriter and producer Dolph Lundgren is visiting Belarus.
On Sunday, December 11, Dolph Lundgren visited the office of the Game Stream company in Minsk.
Game Stream posted a picture in which the company director stands together with the famous guest. The public found out about the arrival of the famous actor from social networks.
Yesterday, Dolph posted a short video on Instagram, in which he wrote: 'Arrived n Belarus with the bottle tree!!'

Listapad 2016 Film Festival: Documentary day
November 9th was the documentary day of Listapad, with twenty-five movies were presented.
Everyone was excited about Cannes prize-winning Cristian Mungiu’s movie Graduation. I Am Not Madame Bovary screening is scheduled after that movie.
By the way, Chinese movies are not a common thing on Listapad.
Listapad 2016 in Minsk: Star guests of the festival and no Belarusian films this time

Movie about tractor Belarus wins two silver dolphins in Cannes
Over 70 years, tractors Belarus traveled to 76 countries. After the success of the short film "Bread Winner" at the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards, MTZ tractors have become world celebrities. International Film Festival Listapad-2016 opens in Minsk under slogan “Towards inspiration”

Film Festival Listapad to kick off in Minsk November 4
160 movies from 45 countries will take part in the 23rd International Film Festival Listapad that will open in Minsk November 4. Japanese, Philippine and Malaysian films will be screened for the first time. The most famous directors, actors, producers and film critics from all over the world will come to Minsk. The opening ceremony will be held at Moskva Cinema.
The red carpet, spotlights, sound, video equipment and light are being prepared for the festival.
Animayovka Festival of Animation Films to open in Mogilev on October 28
On October 28, the festival of animated films Animayovka officially opens in Mogilev. It is carried out for the 19th time. This year, more than 30 countries sent applications to take part in the competition program alone.
The jury will select the best 100 works.
About 400 cartoons will be screened in Mogilev's cinemas. The guests of the city will also be able to attend master classes, meetings, presentations and exhibitions.

Kuravlyov played his first part in a movie when he was a student at the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography. After he played in Shukshin’s movie Zhivyot takoy paren (There Is Such a Lad), he became famous.
Belarus’ President expresses condolences over death of Lyudmila Ivanova
On October 7, famous film and stage actress Lyudmila Ivanova passed away.
She stole away hearts of the audience playing the part of Shurochka in the famous Soviet movie Office Romance. Afterwards, she remained people’s favorite actress. Besides her works in theatre and cinema, she was known as a poetess and author of numerous musical pieces.
Ivanova died at the age of 84.
Belarus’ President Alexander Lukashenko has expressed his condolences to the family of Lyudmila Ivanova.

Chinese Film Week kicks off in Minsk

The romantic comedy "Close enemies" opened the week. Viewers will be able to enjoy six films of different genres.

Alexander Belsky, the only Belarusian poster painter, about his work, inspiration and Minsk

Listapad Film Festival 2015 due in Minsk in early November
About 200 films from 60 countries, famous directors and distinguished celebrities will meet both on a silver screen and in the Moskva cinema hall. The solemn opening ceremony of the 22nd Minsk International Film Festival (MIFF) will be held on November 6. The tickets are on sale.
A film featuring Gerard Depardieu will open the festival. It’s still unknown whether the actor will visit Belarus.
Animaevka festival opens in Mogilev September 9
Weather is not an obstacle to good and loud events in Mogilev. September 9 is the opening day of the International Festival Animation Pictures.
Taking part in Animayovka are Australia, Greece, Israel, Mexico, Romania, South Korea and Japan. All in all, applications for the festival were received from 40 countries.
In addition to competition screenings the festival will feature creative meetings with famous directors as well as exhibitions and theatrical performances.
BelarusFilm creating animation movie about Marc Chagall
The Vitebsk period of Marc Chagall's art will be embodied in Belarusian animation film. The National Film Studio is creating an animated movie about the childhood and youth of the famous artist.
The peculiarity of the project is that the facts of the biography of Chagall will be accompanied by images of his paintings, which just illustrate some episodes in the life of the master.
The movie will be 13 minutes long.
Belarus-France cinema cooperation: Why did the word "Minsk" sound at the Cannes festival in 2015?

Belarusian cinema turns 90
Belarusian cinema turned 90 years on December 17.
On the same day in 1924, the Belgoskino company was founded in the Belarusian Soviet Socialist Republic, which was back then part of the nascent Soviet Union.
The first Belarusian feature film was Lesnaya Byl [Forest Story] directed by Yuri Tarich. This film is a classic one. It is known even by the young generation of Belarusians.
