Not so long ago Minsk hosted the Fed Cup 2017 where team Belarus played against the USA. The matches turned out to be very tough for both the teams, however, luck was on the side of the USA and they beat Belarus with a score 2:3. The Fed Cup 2017 final attracted attention of many tennis fans from all over the world. What is more, Alexander Lukashenko was among them, and before the matches he expressed his words of support to team Belarus.

A couple of hundred of participants, including the youngest son of the President Nikolai Lukashenko, he run the distance to support seriously ill children. This charity campaign is held all over the country. The participants of it must run 100 thousand kilometers. If Belarusians reach the target distance, the organizers of the campaign will transfer money to the State Institution “Republican Children Hospital for Medical Rehabilitation” for every meter the participants overcome.

Belarusian runner wins ultramarathon in Daugavpils An athlete from Belarus Tatiana Gurskaya has won the 100km ultramarathon in Daugavpils (Latvia). The runner overcame 37 laps spending more than 10 hours. Taking part in the competition were other Belarusian athletes: Vladimir Kandybo, Igor Novitsky, Anatoly Laput and Valery Kruglikov. They ran 50 km, becoming winners in their age groups.

Belarusian officials give New Year gifts to orphans Officers of the State Control Committee have visited the Zhdanovichi orphanage as part of the nationwide campaign Our Children on December 24. Now this facility is home to 30 children with peculiarities of psycho-physical development. Generally these are small children left without parental care. In honor of the holiday the kids have prepared a colorful New Year's performance with songs, recitals and traditional Christmas dances. The children were given sweets and a TV set.

Race of Legends biathlon festival to be a charitable event Money raised from the sale of tickets for the sports festival "Race of legends - the stars of biathlon for peace" will go to charity. Event organizers will direct the earned funds to build the children's hospice in the Minsk region.
