Belarusian editions presented at Frankfurt Book Fair 2017 The best editions dedicated to Francysk Skaryna and the 500th anniversary book printing are presented at Frankfurt Book Fair 2017. The fair is being held for the 69th time. The Belarusian exposition consists of about one thousand volumes. Novelties of leading stated publishing houses are being exhibited. Frankfurt Book Fair is annually visited by about 300 thousand people. Traditionally, world tendencies of the book printing market are presented here. This time 100 countries are participating in the main book forum of Europe.

16th - first half 19th century editions of Belarusian printing houses exhibited in National Art Museum A unique exposition of antique editions has opened in the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus. Books of Belarusian printing houses, printed in from the 16th to the first half of the 19th century, are presented there. The earliest of the exhibits is the Gospel from the printing house of the Mamonichy brothers. About a dozen of editions have been picked for the exhibition.

Belarusian printing was founded 500 years ago. The name of Francysk Skaryna and other educators was mentioned here not once. The winners of the National Literature Award have been announced in Polotsk.

This is the place where Francysk Skaryna was born, the man who printed the first book in the Belarusian language 500 years ago. In honor of this event a National celebration has been established – the Day of Belarusian Written Language. The official start of the celebration will be announced from the main concert stage of Polotsk. The President emphasized that the Day of Belarusian Writing has become a real symbol of Belarus’ independence.

Belarus to present over 100 books at Beijing International Book Fair Belarusian publishers will present more than 100 books at Beijing International Book Fair. Editions about Belarusian writers, whose anniversaries are celebrated in 2017, will be presented on Belarus’ national stand. The central place will be occupied by the works dedicated to 500th anniversary of Belarusian book printing and to Francysk Skaryna. Books on the Chinese language, which are published in Belarus, will be presented as well.

Belarus marks 500th anniversary of book printing August 6 The anniversary of Belarusian book printing. On this day exactly 500 years ago Francysk Skaryna printed the first book in the Belarusian language in Prague. By doing that he made a technological and cultural strive.

World Heritage of Francysk Skaryna book presented in Minsk The World Heritage of Francysk Skaryna book has been presented in the National Art Museum of Belarus. The four kilogram edition consists of 25 books of the Belarusian printing pioneer Francysk Skaryna. On the 425 pages photographs of the works of the famous Belarusian are presented. Today they are located in the museums of the world, from Minsk to Cambridge.

Book about Enlightenment Age rise on Belarusian lands presented in Mogilev A unique book about the rise of the Enlightenment Age on Belarusian lands was published in Mogilev. The album contains photographs of books, insets, front pages of books which are nearly 50 years old. Some of the books were created by Spiridon Sobol, the follower of Francysk Skaryna. As many as four centuries ago he founded his own printing school in Mogilev.

Book “Russian Bible of Fransysk Skaryna is 500” presented in Minsk “The Russian Bible of Fransysk Skaryna is 500”. This is the name of the book which was presented in Minsk. It’s a unique edition of the Vrublevsky’s Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences. It has illustrative material from nearly 30 libraries, museums and archives of dozens of countries. One way or the other they are somehow connected with the Bible of the Belarusian printing pioneer.

A book about Belarus, dedicated to the country’s development results over the sovereign quarter of a century, will be published by order of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko.The book will be written by the members of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus.

Chronicler of two eras - Belarusian classic writer Ivan Shamyakin He devoted himself to Belarusian literature during over 60 years and became one of the few writers who respectfully was called "a living classic writer." Let’s recall the outstanding master of stories Ivan Shamyakin. His biography is full of interesting facts. Ivan Shamyakin was born in the small village of Karma, Gomel region. The writer was left without parents early, and then, being just 20, he fought in World War II, taking part in battles from Murmansk to Berlin.

The 24th Minsk International Book Fair results
24th Minsk International Book Fair results The 24th International Book Fair was held in Minsk last week. Among the participants were such countries as Russia, Germany, China, Iran, the United States, etc. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland was the Guest of Honor this year. The Irish came to us in kilts and with bagpipes, by the way. All the guests could copy Francysk Skaryna (a Belarusian famous as one of the first book publishers in Eastern Europe) and print the page from the legendary Bible using the ancient method as it was done 500 years ago.
