Minsk hosts 10th CSTO Military Committee session
Joint training of skilled specialists for the organization of air defense. The CSTO Military Committee gathers in Minsk for the 10th time. Maintenance of security and delivery of collective air forces are among the topical issues. Furthermore, it was decided that the training of man power will be held in military academies of Belarus and Russia. Subsidiary organs, which deal with communications and technical support, will also be established.
Belarusian pilots preparing for International Army Games 2017
Belarusian crews of helicopters are getting ready for international army games. In 2017, one of the most spectacular events – air darts - will be held in China.
Belarusian pilots will perform on new Mi-8 helicopters. It differs from its predecessor thanks to improved flight characteristics. The pilots are training near Osipovichi, Belarus.
The competition program includes several stages: reconnaissance, use of air weapons and physical fitness. The training conditions will be more complicated as new fire missions have been added.
Belarus destroys last anti-personnel mines under Ottawa Treaty
Belarus has fulfilled its obligations under the Ottawa Treaty. One of the points of the agreement is to destroy anti-personnel mines. On April 5, the last samples of PFM-1 were destroyed in the Gomel region.
These mines were used extensively in the second half of the 20th century: by Americans in Vietnam and by the Soviet troops in Afghanistan. Cassettes with mines were dropped from aircraft or delivered by rockets. Children often took mines for toys because of their plastic coating. The victims of these weapons often remained disabled.
Belarus and Russia hold joint military exercises
Belarus and Russia hold joint military exercises in Vitebsk. Special Forces of Belarus and Airbone Forces of Russia have been involved in the exercises. Their team was strengthened with the participation of reconnaissance officers, engineer department and communications unit. During the two weeks of training, the work out of countersabotage tasks will be underscored.

Belarus presents UAVs at LIMA'17 exhibition
Belarus has presented a series of UAVs in Malaysia. This is the first time Belarus has been represented at the region's largest military equipment show. Belarusian enterprises have brought the most popular models of weapons.
The Belarusian stand occupies 100 m2 and features modern radar, optical and electronic products and also some devices.
On the first day of the show alone, Belarusians held talks with representatives of nearly a dozen countries.
Alexander Lukashenko: Belarus is ready to ensure its security in any situation
Joint exercises of the Armed Forces of Belarus and Russia Zapad 2017 (West 2017) need to be as transparent as possible, said the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, during the report on the drills.
They will be held in Belarus in autumn 2017.
President Lukashenko also emphasized that Belarus doesn’t intend to curtail its cooperation with Russia because of the disagreements in other spheres. The forthcoming drills prove the aspiration.
In as many as 20 countries military actions are taking place.
Belarus and Russia start preparations for West 2017 drills
Belarusian and Russian troops began preparations for the exercises Zapad 2017 [West 2017].
During the drills, the parties intend to work out the coherence of military administration and interoperability of military units.
The large-scale exercises will be held in September in several ranges of Belarus and Russia. This will sum up the joint activities of the two countries in the past two years.
MZKT tank transporters being tested in UAE
Tank transporters made by Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant (MZKT) are being test-driven in the UAE. The vehicles were made by a special order. This is the principle, according to which the company now operates.
In the case of the United Arab Emirates, we are talking about a long-term contract. It provides for the delivery of various machinery. The exact amount and timing of deliveries will be known after testing.
Belarus’ President meets with Chairman of State Military and Industrial Committee
On September 26, Belarus’ President Alexander Lukashenko held a working meeting with Chairman of the State Military and Industrial Committee of Belarus Sergei Gurulev.
The President was interested in the state of business in the sphere. They discussed both ongoing projects and plans of institutions that are part of the State Military and Industrial Committee. The emphasis was on the economic state of the State Military and Industrial Committee of Belarus. The President gave a number of instructions concerning the expenditure and development of the sphere.
Foreign Minister of Belarus Vladimir Makei meets with Pentagon’s representatives in New York
Belarus and the USA discussed the cooperation in the military sphere. In New York, Belarusian Foreign Minister met with the representatives of the Pentagon.
The discussion was related to establishing the dialogue between military institutions of Belarus and the USA in the face of the increasing tension in the Eastern European region.
In addition, Foreign Minister of Belarus Vladimir Makei took part in the solemn opening ceremony of the 71st General Assembly of the United Nations.
Security on ground and in air: major drills of CSTO peacekeepers held in Belarus
Security on the ground and in the air. Major drills of the CSTO peacekeepers were held in the Brest region.
The drills took place on the Obuz-Lesnovsky military training ground near Baranovichi. Soldiers from Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan were working together. For the first time, the collective forces of the CSTO received the mandate of the UN Security Council. It means that the units are ready for peacekeeping operations anywhere in the world.

Belarus successfully tests new Polonez missile

Belarus air force agrees Su-30 purchase from Russia
The air force of Belarus is now one step closer to fleet renewal. Belarus has reached a preliminary agreement with the Russian side on the acquisition of multi-purpose fighters Su-30. They are designed to replace MiG-29, which are now in service.
The replacement of fighter jets will increase Belarus' opportunities for the destruction of air targets. In addition, thanks to these jets, Belarusian air force will be able to perform combat tasks from any airport of the country.
Belarusian, Russian military start 2nd phase of joint operational exercises Union Shield 2015
Union Shield 2015. The military of Belarus and Russia have started the second phase of joint drills. During the three days, at the Kirillovsky firing range in the Leningrad region, they will practice issues of command and control in the course of hostilities.
The focus is on mobile defense, blocking and destruction of illegal armed groups, as well as counter-attack, during which lost control of some territories will be restored.
Alexander Lukashenko to take part in CSTO Collective Security Council session September 15
The President of Belarus will take part in a session of the CSTO Collective Security Council. It will open September 15 in Dushanbe, but the heads of the member states will arrive in the capital of Tajikistan today.
The agenda includes more than 15 questions. In particular, the parties will discuss the current state of affairs in the Collective Security Treaty Organization also focusing on the organization's budget for 2016.
