Firecracker thrown at Belarusian embassy in Vilnius: criminal case opened An unpleasant incident has happened at the Belarusian Embassy in Lithuania. The unknown person threw a firecracker on the territory of the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Vilnius. The firecracker was disguised as a pack of cigarettes. No victims have been reported. The official representative of the embassy has commented on the details of the incident.

Lithuania’s Foreign Ministry responds to protest note on Belarus border violation incident The light airplane which flew over Belarus’ border was under control. This was the official response of Lithuania’s Foreign Ministry given on May 3, 2017 to the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Belarus concerning Belarus’ air space border violation which happened two weeks earlier. The official statement says that during the entire flight the plane was under joint control of Belarus’ and Lithuania’s Civil Air Forces and Air Forces and the plane was “importunately returned back to the air space of the Republic of Lithuania”.

Lithuania investigates into Belarus border violation incident Lithuania began investigating into the incident of a light airplane violating the Lithuania-Belarus border. Such information was placed on the website of Lithuanian State Border Police. Belarusian army men recorded a violation of Belarus’ airspace on April 19, 2017 at about 2:00 pm. The plane flew eight kilometers into the territory of Belarus, and three minutes on it turned around and left the territory of Belarus. Belarus handed over a protest note to Lithuanian leader of diplomatic mission in Belarus due to a violation of the state border.

10,000th visa-free tourist visits Belarus The 10,000th visa-free tourist was met in Belarus' Grodno on April 21. Zinaida from Vilnius became the 10,000th visa-free tourist in Belarus. She was handed a symbolic gift and wished a good holiday. The woman admitted that she learned about a visa-free regime in Belarus by chance and could not but take advantage of that. The last time she visited our country was more than 25 years ago, and this is her first time in Grodno. She plans to visit monuments and churches.

Lithuanian plane violates Belarus border The Belarusian Foreign Ministry on April 22 handed over a protest note to Lithuania due to a violation of the state border. The incident occurred on Wednesday in the area under construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. Lithuanian light aircraft flew 8 kilometers into the territory of Belarus then turned and left the Belarusian airspace. All the time the plane was over Belarus, it was controlled by means of anti-aircraft defense.

New border crossing point opens at Belarusian-Lithuanian border
New border crossing point opens at Belarusian-Lithuanian border Another international crossing point opens on the border with Lithuania on February 17. The border crossing point Losha-Šumskas acquired such a status at 8am today.  Previously, this section of the border had a status of a simplified one and only border inhabitants could cross it.  Now it will be available to everyone, but only when a person is in a car. Trucks and pedestrians will not be let through this checkpoint.  You can carry only goods for personal use through the Losha-Šumskas checkpoint.
