The decision was made at the Congress of the IIHF. Finland was the competitor of Minsk and Riga. The votes divided: 55 vs. 52. The IIHF World Championship is set to take place from 7 to 23 May 2021. It is expected that the final and the semifinal matches will be held in Minsk.
