Belarus pins medal hopes on freestyle and biathlon at 2018 Olympics Belarusian athletes are planning to win about 30 licenses to participate in the Winter Olympics in the Republic of Korea. President of the National Olympic Committee Alexander Lukashenko earlier signed the official application for participation of Team Belarus in the XXIII Games. The Olympics will be held from 9 to 25 February 2018. Seven sports will be represented, including 15 winter disciplines.

Belarus canoe team to bring counter claim against ICF This week it became known that Belarus is preparing a lawsuit against the International Canoe Federation (ICF) demanding the compensation for moral and material damage caused by the wrong ban on Belarus’ men's canoe team from participation in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. The Court of Arbitration for Sport has lifted a one-year ban from the men's team, but nobody will return the Olympic Games in Rio to the Belarusian athletes.

French Anti-Doping Agency: Nothing on four Belarusian rowers The French Anti-Doping Agency says they have nothing on four Belarusian rowers. The National Olympic Committee of Belarus received the relevant message January 21. In the spring of 2016, during preparations for the Summer Olympics in Rio, the Belarus rowing team was subjected to a search by local police in France. Then the International Federation of canoe athletes accused the Belarusians of doping. Thus the men's rowing team did not get into the Rio Olympics, at which they had been considered among the favorites.

Belarus defending canoeists' right to partake in Rio Olympics The National Olympic Committee of Belarus is defending the right of the men's national rowing team to partake in the Rio Olympics. On July 18, the Belarusian side filed papers to international sports arbitration with the requirement to either cancel the decision of the International Rowing and Canoeing Federation or suspend it until the end of proceedings. Belarusian rowers, the main contenders for Olympic gold in Rio, are suspected of doping.
