Azarenka out of Miami Open 2018 in semifinal

Victoria Azarenka lost in the semi-final of Miami Open to Sloane Stephens and did not enter the final of the tournament with a prize fund of almost $8 million.

In the three-set match of the sixth round, the Belarusian tennis player (186) lost to the US athlete (12) 6:3, 2:6, 1:6. The match lasted 2 hours and 9 minutes.

The match was difficult for Azarenka. In addition to the game itself with a strong rival, who overcame her in the previous meeting, Victoria had to cope with the fans and pain in her leg.

"Honestly, I felt unwell all through the match. It seemed to me that I was somewhat slow. In the first set I was still with fresh energy and had time for the ball, but after that - no... I stopped hitting the ball the way I should have," WTA website quotes Azarenka as saying.

It was the second tournament of the Belarusian tennis player after a long break. At the tournament in Indian Wells, Victoria was knocked out after a defeat at the same Sloane Stephens.
