Azarenka into Miami Open 2nd round: "I'm happy to play"

Belarus' Victoria Azarenka confidently won the opening match of the Miami Open.

The WTA No.186 defeated American Catherine Bellis (44) in a two-set match, 6:3, 6:0. The match lasted only 1 hour and 6 minutes.

"I'm happy to play. I want to do it even better. I have no doubt that eventually I will achieve my goals," Victoria said at a press conference after the match.

In the second round, Azarenka will take on American Madison Keys (15).

Another Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka (60) also got into the second round. The athlete won against the US athlete Madison Brengle (77) in two sets with a score of 6:1, 6:4. The game lasted a bit more than 1 hour.


Sabalenka is taking on Czech Petra Kvitová (9) in the next round.

Aliaksandra Sasnovich is the third Belarusian to have qualified for round 2 of the Miami tournament.

The Belarusian tennis player defeated the Czech Kristina Pliskova and will take on Russia's A. Pavlyuchenkova.
