Four Belarusians to play at Miami Open


Four Belarusian tennis players will take part in the Miami Open, the tournament with a prize fund of $7.9 million.

Vera Lapko (WTA No.135) will start first and her competitor in the qualification will be Japanese Kurumi Nara (95).

If Vera Lapko wins and enters the main draw, she will meet the winner of the tie Sabine Lisicki (158) vs Andrea Petkovic (111). 

The remaining Belarusians will play in the main draw of this prestigious tournament.

Victoria Azarenka, who takes 186th place in the WTA rating, will meet with American CiCi Bellis (44), Aryna Sabalenka (60) will play against another American - Madison Brengle (77), while Alexandra Sasnovich (46) will compete with Czech Kristýna Plíšková (80).

Azarenka returned to professional tennis a couple of weeks ago after finishing child custody dispute aganist her former boyfriend Billy McKeague.

Matches of the Miami Open main draw will begin on March 21 and the winner will be determined on April 1.
