Domracheva wins sprint at World Cup in Finland

Belarus' Darya Domracheva won the sprint race at the World Cup in Kontiolahti.

With a margin of half a second, the Belarusian biathlete took first place. Darya missed the last shot but still managed to get around German Franziska Hildebrand.

After the standing shooting stage, the biathlete from Germany outstripped Domracheva by 17 seconds. But on the finish line, Franziska simply could not compete with Daria and lost her 0.5 seconds.

After 5 seconds, the finish line was crossed by the athlete from Italy Lisa Vittozzi, who secured her third place.

"I'm not complaining about the form, I feel up for competition, I feel good," Daria commented on her victory to Russia's Match TV.

Nadezhda Skardino came 11th, Irina Krivko 15th, Dinara Alimbekova 46th and Nadezhda Pisareva 64th.

On March 10 the Finnish stage will continue with a super mixed and a mixed relay. The World Cup stage will complete on March 11 with a mass start.

Domracheva showed her traditionally high class winning silver in mass start and also bringing Belarus gold in the women's relay at the 2018 Olympics.
