Hirscher bags gold in men’s Alpine combined event, Belarusian 34th

Austrian skier Marcel Hirscher won a gold medal in the Alpine combined event (downhill + slalom) at the Olympics in Pyeongchang.

The result of Hirscher in two disciplines is 2 minutes, 6.52 seconds. Silver went to the French athlete Alexis Pinturault (+0.23 seconds), bronze to his compatriot Victor Muffat-Jeandet (+1.02).

Belarusian Yuri Danilochkin also took part in the race. In the downhill, he took 48th place, losing to the leader 3.54 seconds. In slalom, he lost to the winner 8.9 seconds. Thus, the final result of the Belarusian is 2 minutes 18.72 seconds. Danilochkin lost to Hirscher 12.2 seconds and settled on 34th place out of 37.

In total 48 athletes participated in the competitions, of which 21 could not finish. Including the representative of Russia in combination Pavel Trikhichev, who fell in the downhill and dropped out of the fight for medals.
