After the adoption of the agreement, citizens of the two countries will need no visas.

The agreement between Belarus and Russia on mutual recognition of visas can be signed in April-May 2018.

The question of mutual recognition of visas with the Russian Federation was considered on January 11 at a meeting with Alexander Lukashenko. The Belarus President set the task to settle differences in the border area with Russia during 2018.

"The Belarusian-Russian border has acquired an unofficial status, as it is often called on the Internet and everywhere "the most bizarre border in Europe," he said.

"The Russian side without official notification began to exercise full-fledged passport control in respect of all persons following road transport, and then on air and rail."
