Lukashenko thanks Chechen leader for rescuing Belarusian from Libyan captivity

A Belarusian who spent almost seven years in Libyan captivity has returned to his homeland.

In August 2011, our compatriot and his comrades were detained by one of the so-called revolutionary brigades. All these years, diplomats have been working to free the Belarusian, but managed to do that only now.

President Lukashenko expressed gratitude to the head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov for helping to release the Belarusian from Libyan captivity.

Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus:
Recollecting our meeting in Minsk on September 25, 2017 and your promise to make efforts from your side for sooner release of the Belarusian citizen, I want to express gratitude for your personal contribution to the case of Vyacheslav Kachuro’s return back to his homeland. Your assistance in protecting the lives, health, and interests of compatriots abroad that are very important tasks for every President. It is an evident example of friendly and brotherly ties between Belarus and Russia.
