EU remains second most important for Belarus' exports

Belarus is ready to contribute to the security of the European continent, said Belarus President meeting on January 30 with European Commissioner Johannes Hahn.

Relations between Belarus and the European Union have become the main topic of the conversation.

Belarus and the EU have been developing dialogue well in recent years. Cooperation with the European Investment Bank has been established too. Henceforth, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development fully works with the Belarusian public sector. With the support of these banks, a number of major projects are being prepared for implementation - modernization of transport, customs and water treatment infrastructure, know-how technologies in the banking sector.

Anastasia Ivannikova, CTV:
The European Union remains the second most important market for Belarusian exports. According to the results of the 11 months of 2017, it amounted to almost $7 billion. The best economic dialogue is established with the UK, Germany, Poland, the Netherlands and the Baltic countries - Lithuania and Latvia.

The turnover is almost 13 billion, which is an impressive figure for Belarus. In addition, it is possible to intensify investment cooperation in the field of energy efficiency, environmental protection, development of small and medium-sized businesses. Mr Hahn met with the Belarus Premier. The priorities of this partnership were established in October 2017 in Luxembourg, at the Belarusian-European Economic Forum. Johannes Hahn did a lot for that forum to happen.

Now it's time to move on. For example, to take steps in the rapprochement between the EU and the Eurasian Economic Union. Such a common economic space from Vladivostok to Lisbon promises great opportunities.

Andrei Kobyakov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus:
We believe that the movement towards the formation of a common economic space from Vladivostok to Lisbon objectively meets the interests of not only the two integration associations, but also the interests of third countries, the interests of citizens of the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union.
