Belarusians boast lowest Schengen visa rejection percentage

Despite the short-term visit to Belarus, the program of stay of Johannes Hahn, commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy & Enlargement Negotiationswas, was very rich.

At the meeting in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hahn discussed priority areas of bilateral cooperation and paid attention to the need to liberalize the Belarus-EU visa regime. Negotiations on this issue are ongoing, but there are a number of "sensitive" issues that require further discussion.

Vladimir Makei, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus:
I am convinced we will find a solution to the issues that still remain on our agenda, and as further progress in the development of our relations, we will come to the necessity of signing these agreements on the liberalization of the visa regime and readmission.

According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Belarus tops the rating of countries in terms of the number of Schengen visas issued.

Interestingly, it is citizens of Belarus who receive the least number of Schengen visa rejections.

Mr Hahn also met with Belarus President, who said the Eastern Partnership must not turn into a politicized organization.
