Belarus fights antisemitism in principled and consistent way

Belarus affirms a principled and consistent position in the field of combating antisemitism in the context of the global efforts of the international community to combat racism, xenophobia, intolerance and discrimination in all forms and manifestations. On January 29, Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Oleg Kravchenko said this in Rome taking part in the International Conference on the Responsibility of States, Institutions and Individuals in the Fight against Anti-Semitism in the OSCE Area.

Participants of the conference were informed about the Holocaust tragedy in Belarus.

The deputy minister drew the attention of those present to the long tradition of peaceful life of representatives of different nationalities and religious confessions on Belarusian soil, the absence of any conflicts in our country on national, religious, cultural grounds, the press service of the Foreign Ministry said.

The event was also attended by OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Italian Foreign Minister Angelino Alfano, OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger, representatives of government bodies from 20 countries, non-governmental organizations, national and religious communities.

Mr. Kravchenko met with Italian Foreign and International Cooperation Minister Angelino Alfano, diplomatic adviser to Italian President Emanuel D'Alessandro, as well as heads of several delegations of OSCE participating countries. Matters on bilateral agenda, cooperation between Belarus and EU, and cooperation in the international arena were discussed.

Pope Francis received the heads of delegations in the framework of the event.
