Belarus scoop bronze at 2018 EuroHockey Indoor Championships

The women's indoor hockey team of Belarus repeated the success of 2016 and again won bronze medals at the European Championships.

The competition was held in the Czech Republic. Belarus lost only to grands - teams from Germany and Holland. In the match for third place Herman Kruis' Belarus defeated hosts Czech Republic 5:3.

On January 22, the Belarusian team returned home. At the National Airport the medalists were met by relatives, friends, functionaries and the CTV Channel.

Alexander Ekimenko, chairman of the Belarusian Field Hockey Federation:
The girls have achieved a very good result, the bronze medal of the European Championship. They lost only to the Germans and the Dutch, so this, I believe, is a huge success. Soon the worlds begin, where we will fight against them and try to win this time.

Rita Batura, captain of the women's national indoor hockey team of Belarus:
Of course, we could reach the final, but somehow it did not work out. In the semifinals, we probably lacked luck. In the semifinals there were chances we could use but we did not. I think this loss will give us more strength and confidence ahead of the worlds and we will win higher places.

On February 4, Belarus goes to Germany, where the final part of the World Championship starts. Competing for the main trophy of the world will be 12 strongest teams. In the opening match on February 7, Belarusians will meet the United States. The winner of the worlds will be decided four days later.
