Schoolboy from Belarus wins gold International Informatics Olympiad

Vitebsk 11-grad student Mark Korneichik won the gold medal in the category Computer Science at the 14th International Zhautykov Olympiad in Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science.

The Olympiad took place from 10 to 16 January in the city of Alma-Ata in Kazakhstan. As many as 482 schoolchildren from 15 countries competed in three disciplines.

According to the results, the Belarusian team has one gold thanks to Mark Korneichik. 

He took third place among more than 130 participants of the Informatics Olympiad (15 students who showed the best results got gold medals).

Also, Belarusian schoolchildren won 10 silver and bronze medals. Denis Pivovarov, Nikita Sechko, Stanislav Titenok, Roman Mihniuk and Egor Koleda returned with medals from the informatics tournament. Arina Golubitskaya, Andrei Shakel and Vladislav Zverik scooped medals for mathematics olympiad. Similar awards in physics went to Yevgeny Gankovich and Vladislav Fedurko.
