Belarus' Sabalenka reaches career-high WTA ranking


The Belarusian tennis player Aryna Sabalenka has improved her position in the ranking of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA), having risen three positions.

Last week the Belarusian took part in the tournament in the Australian Hobart and reached the quarterfinals. This result allowed her to rise from 69th place to 66th, which is her best achievement in career.

Alexandra Sasnovich lost three positions in the rating and now ranks 56th.

Sabalenka named Athlete of The Year in Belarus

On January 15 Belarusian tennis players will start at the Australian Open. In the first round of the singles, Sasnovich will meet with American Christina McHale (73), while Sabalenka will take on Australian Ashley Barty (17).

There are also changes in the top ten ranking of WTA: American CoCo Vandeweghe rose to ninth, while British Johanna Konta dropped to tenth place.
