Belarus lose to Norway at 2018 European Men's Handball Championship

Belarus has played two games at the 2018 European Handball Championships. After winning vs Austria Belarus lost to vice-champions of the world Norwegians, although not by a large margin 33:28.

Belarus' keeper Soldatenko is having an excellent tournament. The confident game of Vyacheslav is saving Belarus for now. His reliability during the match reached 40% and even sometimes was at 50%, but fell to 30% at the end.

The main positive point for Belarus, however, is the play of backup guys. Gaiduchenko blended into the match scoring very important goals. Karvatski adequately replaced Shilovich, when the latter's performance declined. Baranov had an impeccable match, realizing all his attempts.

In general, this defeat is not a verdict. Norwegians are higher in class, and Belarusians, despite the lack of optimality of the squad and coach Yuri Shevtsov's obvious desire not to overload the players, presented us with an extremely worthy match.

Getting out of the group is quite possible. So far, it's hard to believe that the Austrians will defeat the Norwegians (a victory with a difference of 10 goals or more, or 9 goals with less than 22 goals scored will leave Norwegians out of the contest). However, one does not doubt that Shevtsov will prepare Belarus for the fight against France.
