Domracheva about Bjørndalen's struggle for 2018 Olympics

The Belarusian biathlete Daria Domracheva spoke about the difficulties her husband, Ole Einar Björndalen, is facing in preparing for the Olympic season.

"At first he had problems in training in the summer. I think that few athletes could cope with this at all. But still he started to perform at the World Cup. However, perhaps because everything happened just before the season, it was difficult to get back into shape when it was very important. I can say that he is a real man and a real warrior.

I'm very proud of how he handles the situation. He is a real king," Domracheva told Sportsrevyen TC NRK, reports.

According to the television channel, in the summer the Norwegian had more health problems than it became known to the public. However, Bjørndalen himself does not want to over-dramatize the situation.

"There were some unpleasant little things. I lost precious hours of training," said the Norwegian.

The athlete already knew about the alleged difficulties when he was giving an interview in Minsk. At the moment he already knows what decision the Norwegian Biathlon Union has made regarding his participation in the Olympics.

A list of six applicants for a trip to Pyeongchang-2018 was sent to the Norwegian NOC, where it will be approved and promulgated on January 15.
