There is such a land, between open space and birches,

Where one person like a giant risen.

He learned all his life and understood what to do:

See birches’ tears, love the sky.

“He wrote:

Alonga wide road

where a shabby house stands

I was born

To the sound of a forest.”

He wrote his first poem "Spring" when he was 13. His father gave him a silver ruble for this poem.

Such people will no longer exist.

He is the only one.

Kolas! People will scream.

Barely hearing the lines.

Irina Kozlovich:
Maybe his homeland had such an impact on him, he was very wise.

Then comes the First World War,

Daily horrors and suffering.

Yakub will understand, there is no rest,

For the old wound.

Irina Kozlovich:
He was in village Kurshchina during the First World War. There were 21 potatoes for four people for a week and no other food.

My homeland. Who am I for you?

Here he gained strength.

Remember, you know without decrees.

Your breath - assessed immediately.

They will know the poet Kolas.

In the whole world!

Zinaida Komarovskaya:
First of all, he is a poet, but he is a teacher too. Kolas was an academician, vice-president of the Academy of Sciences, worked on a dictionary in terminological commission.

There are "Simon Musician" and "The New Land"

And then began new political system,

Grind people in the damp earth,

The flame in the soul of Kolas will flash again.

And it will be different thoughts so much,

How can a native son, brother, daughter or matchmaker

Become an evil enemy of the Fatherland.

Irina Kozlovich:
Stalin did not take punitive measures against People's Poets. Probably because he was preparing to unite with western and eastern part of Belarus. And Stalin was just scared of his unpopularity in western Belarus, where Yakub Kolas was born.

Looking at the image, what can you tell about the person?

Taisia Plisovskaya, artist:
His face, his features are pretty soft and poetic. His eyes show us that he has rich thinking and rich inner world. Soft facial features say about his gentleness and kindness.

I am waiting for my land.

I am waiting for its every breath.

I just cannot know.

This is my figure or not!

Maxim Slizh, CTV Channel:
This is what remains when creativity lives in the soul, when you understand everything with your heart. If you know who you are.

People will quietly remember.

Poems will go.

Kolas knew that it would be so.

Yakub knew that we must pay.

Mikhas Mitskevich, son of Yakub Kolas:
The most important thing for people is to read, remember, develope their vision of life issues.

Letters cannot be alone, because they do not sound.

Only contribute to the flight of the birds that are silent.

There were a lot of them in live.

And no matter how much talking.

Kolas believed check must have mate.

He knew, and he was never asked.

To say something, but did not think...

Wait for what does not exist.

He is people’s poet, he is a hero...

The voice of those who writes with anguish,

About the mighty treasures of the royal court.

Sofia Mitskevich:
If the summer was rainy, he worried that the harvest would be poor. He was a man of the earth, since peasant life made him such.

Irina Kozlovich:
He was not a capricious person. He loved life and understood it.

Zinaida Komarovskaya:
He was a very sincere and open person.

After the war, people needed financial support. There are big money transfers in our museum. He helped even strangers.
