Belarusian into top three at Dakar 2018 after stage 3

The crews of the Belarusian team successfully performed at the third stage of the rally-raid Dakar, two out of three finished in the top ten.

Argentinian Frederico Villagra on Iveco won the trucks stage, second and third were the crews of KAMAZ-MASTER led by Eduard Nikolayev and Ayrat Mardeev. MAZs of Alexei Vishnevsky and Sergei Vyazovich finished the stage fifth and sixth, Alexander Vasilevsky came to finish 11th.

The overall standings see Nikolaev first, Villagra second and Belarus' Vishnevsky third third. The Belarusian is just over 50 minutes behind the winner, next is another MAZ by Sergei Vyazovich, a minute from his team-mate. Vasilevsky is now 18th in the final protocol.

The fourth stage of the rally-raid will be held on Tuesday in the vicinity of the city of San Juan de Marcon along the Pacific coast. The racers will have to overcome a 100-kilometer stretch with dunes after a high-speed section.
