US Embassy in Minsk extends visa services from January 9, 2018

The US Embassy in Minsk is expanding the list of visa services.

From January 9, the diplomatic office will accept applications from Belarusian citizens for visas of several other categories.

Thus, diplomats, employees of international organizations, journalists and students can get a document to enter the United States.

The changes did not affect tourists. Belarusians can apply for a visa in this case only if they are not younger than 50.

"For the first time in almost 10 years Belarusians will be able to come to the US Embassy in Minsk to apply for a non-immigrant visa without going to other countries," said US Charge d'Affaires Robert Riley in late 2017.

According to him, the embassy considered this possibility before, but the closure of visa services in Moscow accelerated the process. This is a step aiming to help Belarusians avoid difficulties that appeared after cooling of Russia-US relations.
