MAZ-SPORTauto preparing for Dakar 2018

The MAZ-SPORTauto team will participate in the 40th rally Dakar, which will be held from 6 to 20 January 2018 in South America. Belarusians will perform on three sports trucks and will fight for the podium.

The entire Belarusian team has already arrived in South America and now our athletes will have about a week to acclimatize, prepare for the rally and check the equipment. The race starts on January 6 in Lima and thus for the first time in five years will return to Peru.

About 30 employees of the Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ) went to Dakar, including pilots, navigators and mechanics. The squad has remained the same. The team leader Sergey Vyazovich will go along with navigator Pavel Garanin and mechanic Andrei Zhigulin. The second truck will be led by pilot Alexander Vasilevsky, navigator Dmitry Vikhrenko and mechanic Anton Zaporoschenko. The third crew is Alexei Vishnevsky, navigator Maxim Novikov and mechanic Andrei Neverovich.

"All three crews are able to fight for getting into the top 10. At Dakar we are determined to fight for podium places. For this we have everything and the drivers are ready for the challenges," said the team leader Sergei Vyazovich.
