First Belarusian electric car registed at State Motor Vehicle Inspectorate

The first Belarusian electric car has been registered in the State Motor Vehicle Inspectorate. This was said by the deputy director of the Joint Institute of Mechanical Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus Oleg Yelovoy.

Oleg Yelovoy also mentioned that the Institute is now closely cooperating with BelAZ on developing robotized dumping trucks. What is more, the Joint Institute is also planning to develop cars which will be used on the territories of factories and plants. It will take about 1.5 years or may be even two to fulfill these projects.

As for the prospects of manufacturing electric cars in Belarus, Belarusian scientists are currently considering two variants. The first one will be manufacturing cheap electronic cars, for parks and gardens. The prices will be available and within time they could grow into an electric car that can be driven somewhere out in town. The second variant Belarusian scientists are also bearing in mind is creating and electric car based on the Belarusian-Chinese plant BelGee.

“If necessary, we will be converting petrol cars into electronic vehicle, we have such experience. What is more, our experimental electronic car has been registered in the State Motor Vehicle Inspectorate and we sometimes drive it out in the streets of Minsk”, explained Oleg Yelovoy.

Not so long ago Alexander Lukashenko has given indications to develop a project which will be developing the electric car manufacturing. It all must improve the mechanical engineering sector of Belarus and open up new prospects for it.
