Japanese citizen sent to prison for carrying illegal “souvenir” through Belarus’ border

Not so long ago the Belarusian mass media had plenty of news about a French man being held in a prison in Gomel for trying to cross the Belarusian border with a bullet.

Fortunately, he was released, however a similar story has happened once again in Belarus, and this time with a Japanese citizen. Sadly, this story ended not very well for him, he was sent to jail for trying to cross the Belarusian border with integral parts of fire arms.

The citizen of Japan, born in 1990, came to Belarus from Ukraine. As a result of security check at the border, as many as 10 breech-mechanisms and four barrel extensions to Mosin–Nagants of different dates.

According to the expertise made, these items can be used as parts of fire arms. Therefore, the citizen of Japan was found guilty in trying to illegally transfer these items through the Belarusian border.

The 27-year-old admitted his fault completely and has been sent to a Belarusian prison of reinforced regimen for 4.5 years. He also explained that whilst in Kiev, he saw a specialized shop where they sell military antiques. He decided to buy some of the items and did not even think that carrying it all through the Belarusian border would be illegal, because no responsibility is carried for this in Japan.
