52% of Belarusians favor death penalty

The Information and Analytical Center under the Presidential Administration has published the results of a sociological survey on the attitude towards the death penalty.

The survey was held in 2016.

"Half of the respondents (52%) believe that at this time the death penalty is necessary. 

The abolition of capital punishment is supported by 20% of the respondents, and further 19% said that a moratorium (temporary ban) should be imposed," the sociological digest published by the organization says. 

9% of respondents experienced difficulties with the answer.
