Belarus National Bank head does not believe in cryptocurrencies?

Pavel Kallaur, chairman of the board of the National Bank of Belarus, gave an interview to the program "Week" on the CTV Channel. In particular, he spoke about the recent hype around Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

Pavel Kallaur, chairman of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus:
Crypto currency is a very volatile asset. It is not very convenient to use calculations, as it was intended. In fact, it turned into a speculative investment asset.

Probably, it is interesting to someone to buy a crypto currency or mine the currency, to get some result. The price can go up one way one night and then it goes down and the same bitcoin will not cost anything. Who wants to play, let him play.

When we talk about a certain national crypto currency, then, at any rate, the attitude of central banks to this is not the most positive - for the simple reason that we are deeply convinced that our legal payment instrument must be used on the territory of our country.
