Belarus, EU to continue visa simplification talks after New Year

The negotiations of Belarus And the European Union of visa facilitation will be continued after the New Year.

This was stated by the head of the Department of Citizenship and Migration at the Interior Ministry of the Republic of Belarus Alexei Begun during a press-conference on December 18, 2017. The agreement is currently at a high stage of readiness and the Belarusian side is expecting a delegation from the EU for final talks on visa facilitation issues.

There are still issues to coordinate, and what is more, they also have a political nature. The project has been coordinated and is now at a high stage of readiness for future consultations and signing.

It is still unknown when the delegation is exactly coming to Belarus, but Alexei Begun has commented on the probable time of their visit.

Alexei Begun:
You know that there will be celebrations in the EU soon. I suppose that the visit will happen next year now.

The head of Citizenship and Migration department also said that the first consultation between Minsk and Brussels will be held on December 20, 2017. It is more likely that the details of the delegation’s visit to Belarus will be discussed then.
